Too add to my problem it appears I have a date for the function at work, like I said it is "semi-formal". Now i just need to find that tent dress to bedazzle and bejewel.......

Hey Darlene:

I attended several semi-formal functions not that long ago.  I wore a long flared skirt, to my ankles,  black..like that slinky fabric?  It fits smooth over hips and flares out from the knees down...gives a great slimming line and I always get complimented on it.

With that, since I had to attend several functions and always look different, I bought several tops to wear with it.

On one, I used sequins (sewed them on w/ clear threads)...

on another, I bought glitter fabric paint and drew the "nozzle" along some lines in the fabric stripes...

and on yet another top of a different colour, I simply outlined some dramatic print with gold glitter fabric paints

And on the fourth top, I used two-dimentional  "pearl paint" fabric paint and "touched dots of it" along a design and that looked like I had tiny pearls attached to the neckline and sleeves.

I got my tops at a secondhand store and turned the plain janes into works of art.  Just takes a few days to dry & put a stiff cardboard under the front of the top and secure it with the paper tape for stability.

Even a pretty scarf or shawl dressed up with a bit of glitter or pearl paints can look VERY dressy and really accent a plain solid colour skirt or dress pants!

So basic skirt and enhance the top..will show off your pretty face.

I agree with you.  I always tell my wife God gave some people the ability to repair cars, others the ability to make just enough money to pay for car repairs.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!

Plus without people like me there would be no need for Craft shows.
