Is water supposed to feel 'heavy' in the pouch?

OK, I know this may be weird but.....I've noticed when I sip plain water, it feels heavy in my pouch. It doesn't hurt exactly just fills it up fast. I'm careful to take small sips. Is this normal? My pouch doesn't care for Isopure and some flavor of the drink tubes. Now water is making her quiver!!!!

Any suggestions!

Hi Deedles, water has not felt heavy in my pouch at all.  I take small sips and sometimes even two sips in a row.  Maybe others can comment about their experience.

Thanks for all the advice and encouragement! I've already determined 'she' doesn't like ice cold water. And she likes to be awakened in the morning with a smooth warm bowl of hot cereal. I'll keep the plain water flowing and try the Isopure and drink mixes later.

The adventure has begun!!!

Yep, it can do that.

Just keep sipping itty-bitty small sips.  Remember you are healing from major surgery!!

My surgeon had me sip from a baby spoon the first couple of days to get the hang of how small a sip I should be taking.

HI!   Congrats on you surgery.

I may be weird but I always told my Dr. water hurt my pouch.   If I put flavor packets it's ok but plain water always hurt.   Any of the Crystal Lite Lemonaids bothered it to.   I drank a ton of it before surgery.

It will get easier!

Good Luck!

Hi Deedles....Congrats on your surgery.  I'm almost a year out (11/19/09) but remember water hurting my pouch at first too.
It will get better for sure.  I use flavor packets in my bottled water but any thing citrus bothers my stomach so can't drink those and I just love Ruby Red Grapefruit flavors....Darn!!!
Every person is different but you'll just have to experiment with both fluids and foods to see what you tolerate and what you don't.
Continued success dear one,

Dee,

Water always feels heavy in my pouch (more so than food).  It has taken me a long time to build up my daily water intake because of this.    Cold water seemed to feel heavier early out so maybe you can try some water that's not too cold.  It gets better with time!

Right after my surgery, cold fluids were very uncomfortable for me..I was best with room temp water and warm tea..it's been the last year or so that I crave the ice cold water now.  It takes time *s*  Your pouch is still a "baby".

Oh Yes,  me too............

I still have a hard time drinking plain water; I'm 1 1/2 years out.  It baffles me as to why but it does.  I had the hardest time finding something I could drink.  Now it is coffee (decaf) and Crystal Lite orange.

You are not alone... that's for sure.

WOW, I guess I can consider myself lucky then.  I'm the odd man out with no heaviness.  I can drink cold or hot, never bothered me.  Counting my blessings here.
