Sorry about your dog. I had my cat Cinnamon for almost 19 years and four states (Montana to South Dakota, S.D. to Georgia and Georgia to Michigan). I had to let him go six years ago in January. His brother Kittle was 16 when I had him put to sleep. They were my first pets (not counting the dog we had when I was a child). I loved them like they were my children ... they were my kids! So I sure understand how you are feeling now.

Molly left pawprints on your heart, but she will live there forever.

Molly traveled with us from California to Florida, to Colorado and Mississippi...

I can't believe I feel su*****redible loss . and guilty that somehow I didn't find a way to help her live longer.  If I had been more cognizant of her weight - she gained weight when I stopped exercising with her, when I started gaining weight.

I just feel so bad tonight.

Please don't feel guilty... it's the most painful thing imaginable you are going through and nothing... I mean NOTHING is going to make you feel better except time.... lots of time...

Molly lives in your heart and memories now... lives... as in "alive" .... her beautiful spirit with you always... it was just time for her body to rest.

Be at peace ... Molly most assuredly is....

Don't feel guilty. I didn't catch Kittle's diabetes until he had gone from a 15-pound cat to a 9-pounder. He was up to 700 blood glucose! I felt like such a bad cat mom. But with good care, he got better ... and lived another three years. It's old age, too. We outlive our pets. It's the way of the world.

You will feel bad. I cried for days and weeks after Cinnamon and Kittle died. Cinnamon grieved, too, for Kittle. I couldn't shake him out of it for the longest time. But eventually, you'll remember the good times, like with any friend, and the hurt will end. It's so hard now, I know.

Thank you.   I do wish I had been more attentive to signs, or something, but I also relied on my vet who did not think anything was seriously wrong.  I don't know....  hindsight is 20-20.
I just hope that Molly did not suffer very long.

I feel your pain, Jeane.  Anyone that has ever had a beloved pet and lost it feels your pain.  We all wish we could have done something more, but know, it was her time to go.  Just keep her close in your heart.
