Hello Everyone
Hi Chevy,
Welcome!! This is a very nice group of people here on OFF. It's great that you only have to wait 6 months... although that probably seems long enough. I had 4 months to wait and that seemed forever..
I think insurance companies (and Medicaid) probably hope people give up, move, die yada yada.
If I were less cynical, I would think something else but my opinion of any insurance is pretty grim.
The good news is that you will be having surgery! I had surgery recently - July 16 - and have lost 50 pounds in 5 weeks. That weigh loss has made my back feel better. I can move more easily and the swelling in my ankles is gone. I no longer take metformin for diabetes and I don't need toprol for my heart. These are huge changes. And I still have 130 pounds to lose.
So you will get there. Take heart and stick close with those who have been through it.

Becky and Holly,
Welcome to OFF. This site is one of the best I've found. People on this site have had different surgeries, but their questions and problems seem to concern all of us.
Chevy you're doing the right thing by using the resistance chair. Any exercise you can get in will help. I'm one who knows it, but doesn't do enough of it. My weight loss has slowed down, because my exercise has slowed down. I know when I start exercising again more, the weight will come off again. It's a never ending battle, and don't think WLS is the magic potion. It's a tool and it still takes hard work (albiet not quite as hard as before) and determination to lose the weight. There are alot of rules to follow, and if you don't follow them, you pay for it. Don't want to sound bleak, just know that it's not a walk in the park.
Good luck with your six month diet. You'll be surprised what you can accomplish in that six months.
