morning nancy and OFF family!!!

well i worked all weekend and i came home pissed off due to being so dam busy working all alone both days and NOT getting my break/lunch!!!! they know i need to have my breaks and lunch but still they ignore the food coirt worker when its busy...there was no excuse either for not letting me get a break or lunch because there were atleast 6-7 people there that could have worked the food court while i was gone for a few minutes!!!! we are not allowed to have food back there to eat but i am going to email my WLS office and have them send me a letter stating that i need to eat every so often...maybe then i will get my well deserved break/lunch!!! sighs....

yesterday rick brought home from his mom's the bigger birdcage and we put that up last night for cocoa...at first she was afraid of it but is ok with it now...soon we will be bringing ricks moms ****atiel here...might have some babies....wooohooo

also tore the closets apart looking for my daisy loom so i can get started on making my afghan...could not find it!!! i know its here because i saw it not that long ago...but mr clean here moves my things on a regular basis so it could be anywhere....sighs....but i did find my lost jeans and a few nighties!!! about time i found those!!!! i also found the extra set of keys to my car!!!!! yippeeeee!!!!! getting a new key made would cost over $100.00 so i am very happy i found the extra set!!!!

over the last couple days we got 3 inches of rain!!! looking like more rain soon...had a nice thunder and lightning storm this morning already. we now have a wind advisory til 5 am tomorrow morning. oh goody...more shopping cart dents in the car....grrrrrr

talked to my mom over the weekend also and my sister is still in the nursing home...wonder if she will ever get out....

found a couple jobs for rick to apply for today. hopefully one will give him a job!!! i am so sick and tired of unemployment and his boss not having anything for him to do...we have cut back so far on what we could so he NEEDS to find a job that pays more than unemployment does!!!! sighs...

still have to go to office to sign the new lease...just not happy with how things are yet around here...but because of no other place that is cheaper and in a nice neighborhood we will stay here...but i will voice what i think about this place!!!!

nancy your soup sounds wonderful!! i am thinking of beef stew this week...most likely wednesday when i am off the whole day. i am also off saturday and i want to go to the farmers market see if we can find some beets. mom gave me her recipe for pickled beets so i want to make some. i also want some tomatoes...haven't tasted a good homegrown tomato in so dang long...rick doesn't like them because of the seeds...i found out how to take seeds out so he will eat them...lol

margo hope that foot heals soon...man that has to hurt!!!

annette your group sounds great!!!

george wish we had a sonic closer...one is about a 45 minute drive so maybe we will get there one day...lol hope mary is feeling better soon!!!

Hi everyone:
Margo, hope that ankle feels better soon, Laureen, how nice to have a Monday off, good to see you back George -- How's Mary doing?, Nancy you are so ambitious, and whoever else posted -- hello!

I'm taking a little break at work -- I know, my bad!  Just finished doing a Bankers Edge course and I aced it!!! Hurrah!  Don't tell me us oldsters can't still learn....LOL.

Judy, I thought of you yesterday when I got my cross-stitch stuff out and started on a Christmas project....went thru 6 yrs of Cross Stitch magazines looking for a neat pattern....it kept my hands busy and I didn't think about eating.  I'm making a kitchen towel for my sis, it says "Home Cooking" and has a pretty design.

It's very windy and rainy here today....temps only in the 50's....brrrr.

Better get back to work, hope everyone has a wonderful day.   Missing our Brenda - come back soon, girlfriend.  Eileen - have a nice vacation and rest, rest, rest!

Hi Pat,
Next time I see you can we go thru your cross stitch stash!!!!! I am working on a Japanese letter means live long. Not sure where its home is going to be yet.
We just got back from St Petersburg. We went out to lunch then walked around the Bay Walk and then the Pier. Not much going on as a ton of places are up for rent.
I am nursing a headache so I am off for a nap.

Judy, too bad you're not close -- my son is a locksmith and I'd have him make you a key for free!

Hi Nancy and my OFF family:

Grrr ... my computer stalled as I started writing. We had a big storm last night. Lots of wind and lightning and thunder. Five times during the football game, the weather guy broke in (during the commercials, of course, wouldn't dare break in during the game!) to say we were having a storm ... well, duh, that was pretty obvious! It's pouring out right now. Don't know why weather knee didn't catch it. Although last week, body was hurting a lot, just not yesterday.

Got turkey roll-ups made ... forced myself to do it because this was the third time I pulled the cream cheese out to do so. They are so good but time-consuming and I have to get out my stool in the kitchen because I can't stand that long. I wish I had your energy, Nancy ... I look to cook, just don't want to put in the time. I am going to make salsa chicken today when I get back from my oil change.

Speaking of which, I have to go get dressed and get out the door. Haven't gotten the oil changed in the car for so long, and it needs it. My mechanic's special is $24.95 for oil change and tire rotation, so a pretty good deal. It's time. I'm sure he'll find something else he needs to do, too, on my 13-year-old car.

I'll check back later and see what's up.

Ah Nancy, trees....I love trees, too, and it's one reason we were drawn to Arkansas. Unfortunately, the sub division we bought a house in cleared cut them all before building. One of the reasons we're thinking about moving. I want TREES!!!
The work you are doing with these women is so inspiring. What a wonderful gift you have, and what an amazing way to use it.

Today I'm going to do some much needed retail therapy for the house. With less than three weeks until the company arrives I HAVE to get moving. I've decided to put off the serious cleaning until right before they come, so anything that isn't totally necessary isn't getting done until then. There are much bigger fish to fry, believe me!
Somehow I have to find a way to get all of the SaintBella stock moved to the sunroom so we can put the bed back into the guest room. But in order to do that, we have to move the broken treadmill out of the sunroom, and it can't go to the garage without cleaning that out. See the domino effect I've got going on here Don't even get me started with the flower beds in the front of the house.

Aloha Nancy and OFF family,

Nancy, how wonderful that you can make tomato soup right from your own garden. I can almost taste it!! Yum!

Your work with the young girls is fabulous. When I lived in Santa Cruz and was a "baby psychologist".......just graduated, I got a job as house therapist in a group home for delinquent girls. Well.....my first meeting with them was a group therapy session in the evening. I walked in and introduced myself, and they proceeded to impress me with their "bad girl" behavior by having a food fight, and then a "who has the best boobs" contest where they all lifted their shirts and wiggled their tata's . There was a lot of laughing and cutting up, but very little therapy going on that night.....Ha!

Fortunately, as I got to do individual therapy with each girl, and group therapy that settled down.......I came to love those girls. Bad on the outside.......so good on the inside. We had a tragedy when one of the girls was out one night with boys in a van....and in the dark, up in the mountains, she had to pee, so sat on the side of the road and did so. Unfortunately she was sitting on the edge of a cliff and fell......killed instantly. Well, our group went through a lot of feelings over that...and we all went to her funeral together. When I left they made a big sign with hearts and kisses.....made me cry. You will get so much out of working with young women, Nancy. Enjoy.

It's still dark outside but just beginning to turn orange/gray as the sun creeps up behind Haleakela. I'm trusting that this will be a great day......and hope it is for all of you, too.

Aloha nui loa,

Maui Karen

I’m going to respond in one post. The reason is that I have..yes, the dreaded DIAL UP! Living in the country really reduces my availability to faster internet *wails* and that last time I responded, to each message separately, it took me over two hours!

George: LOL….I’m like the little red hen, if you want to raid my garden, I expect to see you out there weeding too ! grins. Sadly, my garden didn’t fair well this year as the Spring was far too wet, the summer, too cool & not enough sunshine, and August again too we I’m glad that you enjoyed the OH venue …I am still sending healing VIBRATIONS (this word written clearly for Connie....hehehe) for Mary’s improvement.

Margo: Gee, take care of that ankle, girl…could the wrap be too tight? Keep an eye on that, hun. We had serious rain, thunder and lightning and HAIL this morning. Derek slept thru it all but he worked til 4 am this morning and JB stayed inside but now they are out there working….welding on the snow plows for the winter season for Derek’s business. Hope that ankle improves greatly and soon too!

Annette: I’m still hopeful for a few more days of summer clothes..okay, that’s my excuse for not getting into the Fall clean-up routine yet. s but I do understand the "being cold" thing.. I only just took the WOOL blanket OFF the bed last week when it got so hot and humid that even I was too warm. The air conditioner, which is usually working full time all summer, has barely been on this season.

Grammylew: Don’t overdue it the first day out...take small steps getting back into the daily rush. You’d be surprised at how fast what seems to be small activities can wear you out so fast right now. Don’t worry about the water weight, it will go *s*

Millie: I make soup every week, even in the summer...I make my own high fibre and high protein version and whenever I don’t feel like cooking just for myself, I always have my healthy soup waiting to be heated up. We all get sidetracked now and then..don’t beat yourself up..just use that as incentive to stay on track…you can do this.

Laureen: How wonderful that your weekend was blissful with family events. mmm..stuffed cabbage…now that sounds delicious! Care to share the recipe sometime when you have time? Sounds like you are also quite busy and do take the time to refresh yourself too. s

Ahh Connie! Im sorry that you're still struggling with that nasty stuff ... (and our poor Karen C too) …my DIL had it for several weeks now Danny has it too. Derek had it but just for a few days yet still coughs. I am amazed that I didn’t get it too but maybe all the vitamins I take helps. *sending you lots of healing hugs*

Hi Judy! Sounds like a lot of frustration at work….even the laws allow for regular breaks and lunches. Isn't it amazing what we find when we stop looking for them? I love pickled beets..hmm…maybe they can be made with Splenda too ..starts me thinking about pickling.

Hey Pat! Congratulations on your great success with the Banker’s Edge course! awesome work! and I love enjoy hand work...but cross stitching is a little too precise for my eyes....all those teeny tiny little stitches  *s*... But it sounds lovely….what a great thoughtful gift….hand-made gifts are THE BEST!

Hi Carla:   I do hope that headache disipates soon. The weather/barimetric pressure can be guilty.. I get headaches when it’s very windy…like now.

Eileen: I just made roll-ups too this morning…using rosemary ham, light cream cheese and sliced almonds….even a tiny sprinkle of my crushed summer savoury leaves too.  And I drag a kitchen chair over to the counter to do many of my kitchen chores, Eileen…especially when my lymphodema in my legs is aching up.

Lucky me to have mechanics in the house.

Thank you, Susan: These young ladies are amazing...they all have had such challenges to overcome, including the one with deep depression. I am amazed that they listen to me like they do. I’ve never mentored before and even tho I’ve earned my counselling certificate, it seems like I’m just talking to them like I do to my own two sons and just using what I see as "common sense". I guess what seems like common sense to me at 61 may seem like "new news" to younger people..??

Domino effect? Oh baby, do I EVER understand that at this house! Good luck with that!

Oh Maui Karen: Thank you for your kind words..I was nervous at first but I feel now so comfortable..the questions have seemed to flow as I challenge them each meeting and they all three are so energetic…they particularly need focus.  Because of the one with deep depression, instead of forging ahead about work related stuff, I felt that I had to take some steps "backwards" from what was the general purpose of the group to work on self-esteem and building boundaries before we go further while keeping them all on the same page…it's wonderful how supportive they are for each other too.  It's easy to see how close you can feel to these young ladies….how tragic for that one young girl in your group..and how sad for her peers there too…..but again, going thru that must have bonded them even more.

That’s all for now, gang! I’m headed out the door to a dinner out(unscheduled) and a LifePath meeting.
