What's New Wednesday..
Howdy folks,
I've been posting on the What Are We Eating thread but that's been a little sketchy since Linda S has been away. It is good to check in here and read what's going on with you. You all seem like old friends now after almost a year since my GBS.
I am enjoying my free time after being laid off at the end of July and trying not to worry about money and remain grateful for many blessings. I've been buttoning things up for the rainy season, hauling firewood under cover and taking care of some minor home repairs. Next project will be a bathroom upgrade while I am between housemates including new hardware and a tub refinishing.
I have had a couple of leads on a new housemate and am drawing unemployment while going through some legal BS with my former employer concerning years of service for retirement calculation.
I'm walking more, visiting the library again and getting out with friends occasionally. And I drove to Oregon at the beginning of September for a visit with my daughter and the grand kids. Can't really get on with the rest of my life until this retirement issue is finished and that issue is causing me to sleep poorly. But I did manage a decent rest last night and feel good today.
Keep smiling, CV Linda

Hi Millie,
I'm sorry that your family is dealing with the illness of your sister. I can understand your reluctance to share here... it's a huge forum, with some members that you feel close to and others that you don't know at all. When you feel like talking you can decide how to do it- there's always PM if you want to talk that way.
Hugs from Julia

Hi Millie and everyone,
I'm on my way to work... same ol, same ol....tonight my husband and I will be meeting our friend Bill to celebrate his birthday. He's one of my "gnoming" friends- I leave gnomes at his doorstep and he returns the favor- he loves the gnomes and I just think it's fun. For his birthday I bought him a Seattle Seahawks Gnome- so he gets that tonight. Nothing else is going on here... off to the races!

Hi Millie and my OFF family:
Just a quick hello and then I'm out the door. I have to stop and pick up my antibiotics for my dental appointment, then off to lunch with some friends before the dentist. I'm meeting a coworker for lunch and a former coworker who's my friend Mary Kay. She took a buyout a couple of years ago and now gets to travel and have fun. Lucky person!
So sorry your sister is having problems. It's tough having family issues.
Well, I'll check back later. Have a good day.

Morning Millie and all the rest of you dear OFFr's!
Millie, I am sorry that you are dealing with what you are and I can say that I know the feelings associated with such issue, it is never easy, but what I see also is you are focusing on the good things in life, such as your 4 yo grandson (seems there are a few of us with one of them) and they can bring a smile to us even in moments of great stress and/or sadness. . . sending prayers and positive thoughts to you. . .
As for me, I am here at work, trying to do a little catch up on what you all are up to, as I have been busy and not online all that much, maybe 5 minutes here or there to keep up the Farm (lol). . . work is going to be a bear for the next week, as we are finally going to be filing that bankruptcy case that has been filing since July (lol), the nature of the beast in a large corporate bankruptcy case, more than that I cannot share, confidentiality and all that. . .
Yesterday was a weird day, I woke up and kept having dizzy spells, it was scary, felt like I was drunk and even when I first got in my car to drive to work I was dizzy, however, once I got there I went online to see what it could be and realized with all my movings and doings over the 3-day weekend, I had drank more caffienated beverages than normal and less water, so I was a bit dehyrated, once I drank a quart and some of water, the dizziness left me. I hope not to repeat that one again, but it seems once the weather turns, I have a harder time drinking water, time to get the decaf teas brewing again. . .
Well I guess that's it for me, wishing you all a good day, prayers for all you who need 'em and positive thoughts going out for all!
Hugs, Laureen

Good Morning (late morning that is) to Millie and all my OFF family. DH and I took our new little puppy Bentley to the Vet this morning for his shots and neutering. He is full Shih Tzu and was abandoned by his owner so we took him in and have fallen in love with him. The Vet told us he is about 6-7 months old. We have a 12 year old Border Collie/American Eskimo dog named Jake and at first Jake didn't want anything to do with this new little creature trying to invade HIS space but now tolerated the little stinker. Bentley is so cuddly and affectionate and really a good little lap dog. We weren't going to have any more dogs around (famous last words?) but when we saw this little feller we had to change our minds. My computer has been on the fritz but had it tuned up and cleaned out so now I can post again. Love to all and Prayers to all who need or want them and I hope every one has a wonderful day.
Later,
Sandy

Aloha Sandy.....Shih Tzu's are absolutely wonderful little dogs. My next door neighbor has one named Bubba and he's the best little dog. He loves to go for walks down on the beach and chase little crabs, and then come home and sleep. He sleeps a lot!! Everyone in our complex loves him, and my friend would be lost without him.
Have fun with your new little bundle of joy!
Aloha nui loa,

Sandy, we have 2 shih tzu's & one shih eranion (our word). Half shih tzu half pomeranion.. He got the worst of both. Any way the are such a joy most of the time. I would have more, but DH says no. Enjoy, we have discovered the small dogs love the bigger ones. I believe they think of them as a challenge.

Aloha Millie and my OFF family,
Millie.....life has thrown you a curve ball, that's for sure. I hope you have the support that YOU need going through this. Sometimes the caregivers are the ones who hurt the most. Be well.
I'm sitting here wrapped in a towel and will be getting ready to go to work today, filling in for receptionist at the agency where I work doing baby testing at the hospital. Yesterday was my "baby day" and I had NINE of the little ones to test their hearing. Seven boys, and 2 girls! For some reason lately it has been all boys......and just a few little girls. Sounds like my family......I have three boys, three grandsons, a brother who has three sons, and he now has his first GRANDSON!! None of us would know what to do with a little girl type baby. But...I would would have liked to have the experience.,
It's a golden morning....and right now is one of the warmest times on Maui. Sept. and Oct. are the most warm months with it getting to 85-90 every day. I'm so used to it that I rarely turn on A/C...just have fans everywhere. Now with them putting on a new roof, the fragrance we enjoy is HOT TAR, rather than the beautiful flower scent we usually have. Kinda glad I'm off to work soon.
Glad some of you are feeling better......I add myself to that list. I'm taking antidepressants and they are finally kicking in and I'm getting my old zest for life back. I am grateful!
For now....aloha, and have a great day!
