crawling out of the wood work

Hi all.

Hubby's test all came back negative for cancer; however, his last test, he was in the hospital, waking up from anesthesia, and the doctor was talking to me, and I started feeling faint, and I looked at the doctor, and I think he said, are you okay.  I woke up  in Intensive Care.  I guess between teaching, researching, and running hubby here and there, I got a little malnourished and dehydrated.  While in the hospital, they fed me some total parental nutrition IV,, and also gave me tons of fluids, and other things.  At one point, they brought in a shrink who seems to think I am anorexic.  AHHH.  No way.  They also did a lot of test on my pouch and other stomach, and intestine and think something needs to be done to my pouch and small intestine, but no one knows what.  The surgeon, who is not my wls surgeon, wants the pouch taken out and the old part of my stomach reattached, but my wls surgeon said, along time ago, that that is our last option.  So, I am back to square one.

So, here I'm home and feeling better and carrying water with me at all times.

Well hey, Jeannie, we're glad to finally hear from you.....but this isn't especially good news.    Hope you feel better soon -- get your protein and water in.  I think I would get a second opinion from a WLS surgeon about removing your pouch.....that doesn't sound right to me.

Anyhow, take care of yourself first lady.....we missed you.

Jean,

Oh no!  When it rains it pours.  I agree with Pat, I'd get a second opinion.  Feel better soon!

Blessings,

Debbie

Gee, I thought you were just super busy with school starting back up. Goodness!!!

First, I'm glad Kenny is alright, one load off your mind.

I'd sure like you to get a consult with my Dr Gibbs here in LR. When I had the small bowel obstruction he "tweaked" my routing so that I don't malabsorb as much as I did originally. I still have a very small pouch, but the routing is less distal. Does that make sense to you? I hope I explained it correctly.

I know it's a long drive, but the guy really know what he's doing. At least he's closer than your original doc.

Please take care and keep us posted!

Susan

Jeannie....I am so glad to hear from you. I have been worried.... now I know why.

I am happy your hubby's test came out negative for cancer.

I hope you get your situation staightened out soon. I just knew something was wrong. Please get in your water and protein. I don't think you are anorexic. I think you just forget about yourself as you are so involved in taking care of others.

I hope the problem is resolved and that you won't need another surgery.

Please keep us updated.... we care.

Love and hugs to you....connie d

Jeannie,

I'm sure sorry to hear about all of this. I too figured you were just super busy. Just when it sounded like you were managing to get more protein in and actually getting back some of your "pith and vinegar" as my momma would say. Sending healing vibes your way.

Heading to Italy Sunday. Don't think they'll let me bring any "historic" rocks home with me or I would!! Just kidding. I'm not one to deface anything, but if there should be a beautiful "rolling stone" along the way it would sure be tempting! Hugs,

Karen C

Well, I wondered what happened to you. Glad your hubby is OK, but hope you will remember to eat and drink. That's pretty serious. I'm with Pat, I'd get a second opinion. I wouldn't want anyone taking my pouch out. Take care of yourself now, too.

Aloha Jeannie.......Omigod.....what you have been through!!! As I was reading I was thinking oh how wonderful, hubby does not have cancer. Then I read what YOU went through and really feel for you. It seems like you have had a lot of trouble with food issues since surgery, not eating enough, etc. I sure hope you go to a GOOD bariatric surgeon and get a correct diagnosis. I can't imagine the last hope is removing your pouch and hooking you back up to your regular stomach!! I hope it doesn't come down to that.

So glad you posted.....I was missing you.

Aloha nui loa,

Maui Karen
