Hi Laureen and my OFF family:

It rained all day yesterday, but today the sun is trying to peek through the clouds ... with some success, not all the time. Leaves are changing on some trees, beautiful oranges and reds and yellows, but still some green. It's definitely autumn, the air is cool. I love autumn, it's my favorite time of year. I'm just glad I don't have to cover high school football anymore.

I can imagine Dillinger in the office during bankruptcy time ... it would be a lot of fun. He might break up the tedium. A sports clerk brought his puppy into the office two Fridays ago and everybody was gaga over the pup. He took good care not to let it run free for long, though. Our sports editor is a big dog lover and has brought her dog in on "Take your dog to work" days. Other people also have brought dogs in at times, usually at nights when there are fewer people here ... sometimes they are PAWS dogs in training and we are told not to bother them (these are working dogs, in case  you're not familiar with PAWS, like guide dogs).

Anyway, my vacation is almost over. I'm going to hunt out the local winery and check that out, then get something from PetsMart that I forgot and something from one grocery store I need and some cards I need (I have a buy one, get one free from Hallmark and get three 99 cent cards from Hallmark for 99 cents). So a little shopping needs to be done. I thought about a movie, but don't feel like sitting with my knee bent for that long ... don't want to pay for the pain. So I'll come home and watch baseball (three big playoff games ... Twins vs. Royals, White Sox vs. Tigers, Rockies vs. Dodgers) and then more baseball/football tomorrow. Cheap weekend. I need to dump some litter boxes, do laundry ... want to strip the bed and put on flannel sheets ... it's time ... it's cold out! Now when I do that, of course, it will get warmer and I'll be roasting.

Well, that's all for now. My protein shake this morning, I ran out of SF Kahlua syrup for it, changed it to SF caramel and made a caramel latte ... yummy! I have Kahlua on order from Netrition, though ... may mix them when I get it.

Well, have a good day. Laureen, try not to work too hard. Sounds like you like your job, though, and that's good. I've had weeks like yours on my job before ... basketball tournament weeks (writing 20 stories for one paper) and the week of 9/11 ... don't want to relive that one.

Good morning all.  Beautiful day here in the Metroplex.

Mary went back to the doc yesterday.  I told her to make sure they check her lungs.  She saw a different doc in the same office.  She could not believe they had not checked Mary's lungs.  X-rays showed her left lung was in danger of collapsing if she had not gone back in.  So, now she is on anti-biotics and an inhaler.  Hopefully things will get better now.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!

Aww George,

Sorry to hear Mary is still under the weather, glad she got back to the doctor before things got worse than they are and sending out prayers and positive thoughts for her to get better!

Hugs, Laureen
