Some sad news
I discovered a former coworker in Aberdeen, SD, was killed in a car accident last night. Russ Keen was 61. He was a good reporter, storyteller and a good friend. This is the second former coworker at this newspaper to die in the past few years.

Another coworker, a copy editor, died a couple of years ago from lung cancer. She never smoked.
Treasure your friends. They may be gone so quickly. I have lost so many lately.

Eileen,
Sorry to hear about the loss of your friend/co-worker. Yes, life is very fragile, especially it would seem as we get older.
Sending you a cyber hug.

Eileen, I am so sorry to hear about your friend. It is very hard to lose a friend...I know that when I lost my Mary Lou it was rough. It seems like these things are inevitable but with the alternative of having no one that is special to us is even a greater loss.
My sympathies go out to you and to your friends family.
