Hi, everybody.
I've been lurking on this board for about a month, and I really want to be one of you!   What a great group of supportive (and pretty darn funny!) people!

I had open RNY in Mexico on 06/12/09 and have had almost immediate health improvement.  I can walk without pain or gasping.   Heck, I can even roll over in bed now without having to catch my breath.  I started this journey just for my health, but recently got my first and second grandsons and now I have to be healthy to see them grow.

I am looking for a job after a layoff, but mostly I am just trying to be healthy.   Life is very, very good!

Hi Tuna and welcome to our group.  Lots of great people here.  I'm always happy to hear about someone's success with RNY.  Isn't it wonderful?  I love my RNY and I feel great.

Hi Tuna:

Welcome to the group. Congrats on making the commitment to your life, and for going to Mexico. Wow, I don't know if I would have done that. It was scary enough doing it in Grand Rapids, MI (actually, I wasn't scared or nervous, I knew I had made the right decision).

This is a great group, so join in.

Thanks, everybody.  What a warm and welcoming group you all are!

Going to Mexico wasn't too scary because I researched quite well and have thought about this for 2 years.  That said, once I lost my job and then saw a pic of myself a few weeks later, I just decided to do it.  My insurance specifically did not cover WLS so I made the call, got the passports (hubby came along) and had the surgery 10 days later.  No time to get nervous.   So far, so good.   I have a great PCP, who is also a friend, that will do my labs for me and any other followup care.  Other than that, my info comes from "Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies" and the OH forums!

Welcome to the wonderful OFF family.  You are now one of us... no more lurking....

Congratulations on the grandsons... sounds like they will be little buddies....

Trying to be healthy is the name of the game.  We are all in various stages of the game and no longer on the sidelines.  We have special seats on the losers bench and are darn proud of it too.

Nice to have you with us.

Welcome!  Maybe the next time you go to Mexico it will be for fun.  It is amazing how much better you will feel as the weight comes off.   Even stress is easier to handle as there is less physical stress on the body.  (Ask me about stress, I recently had some. heh heh)
I am fairly new to this forum too.  The people are great and as you said, funny as heck.  So, no more lurking.  Join the fun.
