These life crises are times of high drama, aren't they?  You take care of yourself too - best wishes and positive thoughts for your sister.

Thanks so much Millie!

This had to be such a difficult thing to do but it does seem like you did the right thing.  I feel for you.

Thanks so much.  It WAS one of the harder things I have had to do.

Yeah, my Aunt Bernice wasn't happy when my cousin Patti (her daughter) got her a caretaker after she fell several times and had strokes; she told her it was that or an assisted living facility. Then finally she had to put her in a nursing home last year because Aunt Bernice couldn't walk anymore and the caretaker hurt her back trying to lift her. Aunt Bernice was not happy about that either and didn't like living there; she hated the dining room and the organized activities, so she stayed in her room and watched TV and played cards with whomever came to see her. Her mind was still active until she died a couple of weeks ago. She didn't want to be there, but she understood eventually that she couldn't be at home ... and she was 91.

I'm sure your mom will understand too.

My mom and aunt Bernice would probably have liked each other. They could stay in their room and play pinochle and complain about their daughters!

thanks Eileen.  She will eventually understand why I did this.  I needed to keep her safe.
