tummy tuck and boob job

Hi everyone.  It had been a while since I visited this site. have been so busy enjoying my new life.  I had open rny 9-15-08, starting weight 296, today, I am at 152, 5'8' tall and 63 years of age.  Let me just say that if anyone would have told me I would be down to 152, (goal)  II would have told them they were plain crazy.  It is really hard for me to believe that my body has let all that weight go and not  given me any problems.  I had my year check-up in September and the doctor said I was his model patient.  I told him I followed directions to the letter, didn't eat anything that  I was not supposed to, I also keep my appearance up, go regularly to the hair dresser and have nails done, get plenty of sun shine also.

My question to all of you is, have any of you had a tummy tuck or breasts done at my age?  I don't have a lot of extra skin on my belly,  just enough that is hangs down and drives me crazy, the breasts hang way down, I was a 46DD, not it takes a 38C to hold all the skin, would like to get rid of some of it.  I wear a size 8 dress pants and 10 jeans.  I never thought I would be this size again, was this size when I got married 41 years ago.  It doesn't seem possible, but as you all know, it is very rewarding to finally get to where  you want to be since you started this journey.    There are days when I really get carried away with my new found energy, some days too much as I have a very disabling back ( compression fx T6-7, rupt'd discs  in 2 spots) so I watch closely when my back says it is time to quit.  I also do not know how I managed my life before with all that weight on, no wonder I was short of breath, depressed, tired just plain miserable.  I am so thankful that I did what I did, even though the first month I  felt as if someone could shoot me and put me out of my misery, I just kept  thinking and believing everything would turn out OK and with God's help, it has.

Well, sorry to have rambled on but I wanted to give you a little history and hopefully  get some input on these procedures, how much discomfort was there, how long to recover and what amount of pain.  I am seriously considering these things so please give me some input.  Thank you all for your postings on this site, it is really great to know  someone else has the same problems as you.    Sandra B.

Hi!
I'm 11 years younger but have had both procedures and my arms done.
I know a bunch of women on the plastic surgery forum who are over 60 and having plastics.  You should go to the plastic surgery site and post this there too....I bet you'll get some good information.

Best wishes!!

 CONGRATULATIONS !! ! ! !

You have done wonderful....  I'm headed to the surgeon soon to have the tummy tuck.  I'm 61... I don't see where it would be a problem due to age.  sounds like your health is good too...   go for it.

Aloha Sandra.......and congratulations on your outstanding success.

I am one of those who had a tummy tuck about a year ago. I lost 165 lbs.....down from 320 to around 155 - 158. I am 5'11" tall so could easily carry another ten pounds so I wouldn't look so like a clothing rack......tall and skinny. But...I did have belly skin that hung down about six inches and I had to lift it to wash under there. I was fortunate enough to be one of the last Kaiser patients who got the free TT. It went smoothly and I had a hipbone to hipbone incision which was put together with dissolving stitches and I wore a binder for about two weeks. Now after almost a year, my belly is FLAT and have a faded scar from hipbone to hipbone that sort of looks like a belly chain. I LOVE having that skin gone..........I zip up pants now without worrying about getting skin caught in the zipper.

I was 165 when I had the TT, and my doc says he's very proud of his work and I had no complications at all except I was SO GLAD to get the two drains out after about two weeks....just a nuisance, not painful, just get in the way when dressing, etc.

I would LOVE to get a boob job.......those babies went from a 44DD down to a 34C....and the C is mostly skin folded up in the cups. I would LOVE to have about a C cup augmentation and a lift. But, that's not free....and I know very expensive.

Good luck to you, and let us know how everything goes.

Aloha nui loa,

Maui Karen

Thank you very much ladies for your comments and   encouragement.  I have an appointment with the surgeon in Midland tomorrow and will let you know what happens.  My family and friends all say I look great, don't need any thing done, but I would feel a lot better getting rid of the belly and breast skin.  It is hard to get the breast skin in the bra, I don't need it so why not get rid of it.   I have to do what I think will make me feel good about myself.  Yes, I am proud of myself for having the courage to go through the  original surgery and truly feel this will "put the frosting on the cake", so to speak!!!   My hat is off to anyone that has taken this journey and finished it.  Will  post  tomorrow, appointment at 4 p.m.  thanks again, Sandra Bowen
