well i had another confrontation at work today about my vacation time off...first i was told i could take the time off i requested but no vacation pay...yeah it still ****** me off over that....then i am asked if i would take sat, sun, mon and tues off....work wed, off thanksgiving and work fri and sat....i tell her NO!!! so anyhow tonight before i leave work she asks me if i would work sun, mon and tues and have thanksgiving, fri sat and sun off. i again said NO!!! i want the full week off that i was told i could take even without pay...she said (big sigh) ok then....good gravy what doesn't she understand that i want NEED this time off???????? i know she was trying to give me a pay check for the week but i will do without one if i have to just to get this much needed time off!!! and i looked in the handbook and it is NOT there stating that there will be no vacations during holiday times!!! i just might call HR and see what he says about this!!! its very frustrating to say the least. and YES i am glad i have a job but still i have this vacation time coming to me and i want it when i need it the most and the time is now!!!!!

called about the tv in repair to see what is going on and she told me they had to order 2 more parts for it and still not sure how long it will be before its fixed...going to call warranty place and see what they can do now if anything...i will also call the salesman that sold the tv to me and see how he can help. just doesn't seem right that this is taking so darn long!!!

laureen i am happy that dillinger is doing good and i hope he contines to get better fast!!

Hi Judy et al  -  I saw my doctor yesterday and found out that I will still be able to have surgery next week.
I thought that after an abdominal ultrasound found a fatty liver and pancreas and some other scary sounding things that the surgery might be called off, but it won't be.  So I'm starting to think of the things I need to pack in my bag to get ready for the hospital.  I don't think that there are enough days left to get my ducks in a row at work.  I may have to go to the college on my time off just to get ready for the new semester that starts in January when I get back to work.  I have great benefits and have taken off from Nov. 23 to January 7.
I had a bone scan when I had the ultrasound and I've found out that I have arthritis all over my body  -  literally from (almost) head to foot.  I even have arthritis in one of my big toes.  That explains the throbbing that I have after a day of teaching.  I hope that lessens with less weight on my feet. Ah, the privilege of getting old brings so many challenges with it.

Judy - I hope that you get the time off that you need  -  we all need to get away from work from time to time.
Laureen - you are my, and Dillinger's, hero.  I wish that I could give you a hug all the way from Ontario to New Jersey.  I can't tell you how much I admire you.

Everyone - know that I am thinking of you and keeping you in my prayers.
Margaret
Edited to add - Margo, I hope that this negotiation works out for you and your husband and that you are soon on your way like the Lone Ranger -

i will get the time off i requested i just won't get my vacation pay for it...sighs....just doesn't make me happy going without pay for a week but i will take the time off just to get away so i can re-group!!

hugs ;-)

Margaret,

Thank you for your kind words and when I read your post the other day stating that you thought your surgery would be postponed due to the findings you stated, I kind of thought that those were all related to your obesity, as I remember that being obese can actually cause cirrochsis (sp?) over time.  So good for you that you are on your way to the Loser's Bench.  I'll bet a lot of the aches and pains you are experiencing now will be gone as you lose weight, at the very least they will be lessened.

As for what to pack to bring to the hospital, I'd suggest a robe, slippers that have rubber soles, so you don't slip while walking the halls, perhaps your mp3 player, if you have one, a magazine or book, of course, your toilitries.  While I was there I did not have time to read, because when they didn't have me doing the breathing exercises or walking up the halls to get rid of the gas from the procedure, I was trying to catch some sleep or sipping or such things.

Anyway, it will be nice to watch you go through the different phases of this sometimes wacky journey.

Laureen

Congrats on getting the OK for surgery, Margaret. As for the arthritis, well, it was my major comorbitity, in my back and knees, and yes, I still have the problems, although losing the 180 pounds helped my back a bit ... I actually gained back a half inch in height because the disc compression stopped (or so my pain doc seems to think, although I still have pain in my back).

Arthritis is progressive, however, so even if you lose the weight, it doesn't go away, unlike high blood pressure or high cholesterol or diabetes. And osteoarthritis is a disease of aging, so no matter what we do, it catches up with us. Losing the weight will help, however. But I still can't walk or stand for very long, but that's me.

margaret-i am sorry that i haven't caught up yet with the posts from the weekend but i got the drift about your surgery --and so i am excited to see that it is still a "go"!!!! a fatty liver is common in obese ppl  and elevated liver enzymes post surgery due to teh quick weight loss....many docs put us on liquid diets and etc pre surg to try to reduce the liver a bit so during surgery it is not so much in their way..

i am tickled that you are almost there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!hugs!!!!!!!!!!!

oh-and the offer-no dice--durn!!!!!!!

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

Good morning Judy!  Thanks for the start.

Easy day for me today.  Not much to watch on TV on the cell phone, only one show I liked.  So I played on the internet.  Answering posts on both boards I frequent.  At the second job I have been playing golf on the computer.  It is an Excel program.

My son got his Cowboys tickets for this Sunday's game.  Before he bought them, his boss called and told him last chance.  I can get two lower level seats, or five upper deck.  Brad said he wanted to share it with his whole family, so took the upper deck.  The boss told him the cost was going to be the same, $1000.  So my son is ecstatic.  He gets to go see his first pro football game.  And he gets to see it at Jerry Jones' monument to himself.  Part of me, as always wants the Cowboys to lose.  But the other part tells me the kids will enjoy it so much more if they win, and see the crowd going crazy.  Darn darn darn.

Baseball is about to get interesting.  Not that anyone outside of Eileen and I will be paying attention right now.  Free agents become really free Friday.  Let the bidding begin.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!
