If this is Tuesday, it must be OFF - What's new with you?
Started passing out my Christmas Cards at work today. I was going to wait a few days, but some of the people are going out of town. And I am too cheap to pay the postage for those that I see most days. For the longest time I had a policy of "if I am going to see you between Dec 20 and 25, you don't get a Christmas Card from me, I will personally wish you a Merry Christmas."
Got to watch Lie to Me tonight on my cell phone. One less show I have to watch on the DVR.
Gonna work some OT this weekend. I will be working Saturday night. I am scheduled for 8 hours, but I am trying to get that cut down to 5 hours. I need the money, but I want to get up Sunday morning for Sunday School and Church.
Not much else going on for me. What's up with you?
GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!
Pre-op I had high blood pressure and have been off medications since surgery. I check it about once a week and it's been fine. All of a sudden today it was 149/99. I'm trying to determine the culprit. I've changed two things in the last week so I need to figure out which one is raising the pressure. I started drinking a cup of caffinated coffe in the mornings (my nutritionist would be very unhappy with me) and I starting eating a handful of nuts (salted) for an evening snack. I'm going to cut out the coffee first starting tomorrow and see if that helps. If not, I guess the nuts are history. Salt and caffeine were both things I cut out during pre-op so I'm thinking one of them is responsible.
I'm really looking forward to the kid invasion later this week. Other than that, evreything is status quo. I hope everyone has a good day.
Like you I am grateful to have a job to go to. Tell your husband to just keep sending out those resumes, I sent out close to, if not over 100 of them and only garnered 4 interviews, of which I finally landed a job. It's a full time job to find employment these days, but of all the people I know who got a job, those were the ones who diligently got up daily and spent time at their computers gleaning through postings and sending out resumes, even if they thought it was a slim possibility. I was unemployed for 3 months, it's tough, but I wish your husband the best.
I drink about 20 oz of caffienated coffee a day, then switch over to decaf, started drinking it at about 2 months out, my nut was ok, so long as I drink the water to offset the caffiene. The salt is another story. . . today there are plenty of unsalted nuts, try 'em (lol).
Have a great day!

I was under the weather the last couple of days, but my PCP said based on his exam that the heating was the cause of it, so he made a couple of suggestions, that in the past I always did, but since WLS and being so cold I stopped doing, mainly to turn the thermostat down to 60 at night, or crack a window open an inch or two. I did the latter, as I don't want to freeze out my roommate and I woke up feeling better this morning! Oh and a funny thing, I have not been to my PCP since 2007 just before my surgery, well he was like, which one of us do you see regularly and I said, well doctor Mike, I guess my surgery did wonders, because you and doctor Kevin were my guys, he looked at my chart and said, oh my, you are literally half the person you were and I did not recognize you. Good for you, you've done a marvelous job! Talk about a feel good moment. . .
Anyway, I am going to work today and that about sums up my day. Hope you all have a good day. Wishing you all peace and strength to get through the challenges and situations that life deals you today!
Hugs, prayers and positive thoughts, Laureen

I guess it was inevitable with all the hacking and sneezing going on at work...
....I am home sick. I hope this is just a cold and goes away quickly.... I don't have any sick time after my back injury so I am not getting paid right now.... not a good thing.
Hope everyone has a better day than me!
I've been concerned that I wake up so early and talked to PCP about it, he says if I'm getting a solid 7 hrs, that's great.....I do wake up refreshed and ready to go, so guess that's good. Had a good checkup yesterday, A1c blood sugar test was 5.6 (normal is 6.5), blood pressure was 144/74 still a bit high, but when I have it taken elsewhere it's usually 120/60.....must be "white coat syndrome". He was appalled about my "drop foot"....so was his nurse....I will see him on Jan. 11th for my pre-op physical.
Got a batch of no-bake oatmeal cookies and a double batch of puppy chow made yesterday afternoon.....today I am doing gingerbread cookies and mixing up a batch of sugar cookies. The gingerbread cookies are going to church tomorrow afternoon for the advent supper. I sat reading thru a bunch of cookbooks last nite -- I just love doing that.
Finished all the boxes of chex cereal and pretzels making the puppy chow, so that was a good thing. I kept out a recipe for "stollen", a german fruit bread, but don't know if it will get made.
My Christmas cards are half done ......put an envelope in my mail box with a check for stamps and evidently the mailman thought it was mail and they can't seem to find it....duh! Probably went to Kalamazoo and hopefully will find it's way back to Sturgis and me.
Have the bed stripped and a load of colored clothes in the washer already, so busy day for me.
Enjoy your day,
