Hi it's Wednesday, what's new?

Laureen,
Just a suggestion to try.  Our dog was allergic to wheat products.  So we bought the lamb and rice dog food.  It did the trick.  We didn't figure it out until he was practically bald on his back near his tail from chewing on himself to relieve the itch.  Vet had checked him for parasites, fleas, ticks, etc. and was none of the above.  You might want to change his food.

Thanks Bev,

I had a Sheppard that was allergic to the same thing and so when I bought food, I bought what is supposed to be the best on the market now, Blue Buffalo and I am going to check to see what is in it exactly, because I was thinking the same thing. . .  but for some reason I thought I purchased the chicken and rice formula.  She definitely has no parasites, but the vet had me feeding her a food by IAMS that was to get her digestive track straightened out, as initially she had bad diareahea, we finished up that food, which I was mixing with the one I bought so as not to totally stress out her system by changing her over to the food I would be giving her, so perhaps that is why this morning she was less itchy, that food the vet gave me was finished yesterday am.  I personally don't buy IAMS or Eukanuba because many years back I fed my dogs that and they suddenly stopped eating it, so when I went to my pet food store (it was a small mom and pop one that I trusted because they were such animal lovers), she told me that IAMS and Eukanuba had been bought over by Proctor and Gamble, and that the dog probably knew that the formula had been changed some.  She recommended NutroMax which is what I fed Dillinger most of his life.  He did very well with it, but I chose this new food for Roxie based on a recommendation from a friend of mine who did lots of research and informed me that NutroMax had had a recall at one point, and what bothered me about that, is that it was not something I ever knew about.  So I am trying this Blue Buffalo, Roxie likes it, so we'll see if over the next couple of days her itching stops, it is so hard watching her chew and scratch all the time and I hate giving her the benadryl too because it makes her drowsy. . .  anyway, I'm going to look at the ingredients of the food I bought and see, thanks again for your insight, it is appreciated.

Have a great day!  Laureen

My sister's dog Sadie (yellow lab and we think greyhound mix ... big lovable dog) had a skin allergy. She has to feed it a prescription diet (and it's funny because my sister is so cheap ... this costs her a lot of money!). Can't remember what it is but she has to buy it from the vet, so I'm sure is a prescription diet formula.

I feed my cats Nutro MaxCat and have for years, even when Kittle was diabetic ... he wouldn't eat the prescription diet the vet gave him, so when I changed vets, I looked around for something and the pet store said this was a very good food for senior cats with health problems, high in protein, which was good for diabetics. I know Nutro had a recall on cat food a while back, and it was the kind I fed, so I called about it but it wasn't the senior formula.

Eileen,

That's exactly what I am hoping will not be the case. . .  I am hoping this food I am giving her, which is pretty pricey at about $48 a 30 lb. bag, is good for her, I looked up the ingredients, though I had done so initially, but forgot what all was in there, and found out that there is no wheat or corn meal in it, so hopefully all she has is a reaction to the cold and the forced air heat and will just require some adjusting. . .  but as I said, she seemed to be itching less this morning and the food the vet gave me for her, well it was gone yesterday morning. . .  let's keep our fingers crossed, cause she is not a little powder puff dog to have to feed a special diet to ;)

Anything new on the guy you went out with the other day?

Nope, nothing new, but then he was traveling back to Minneapolis. I did get one message back from him yesterday, nothing since.

Eileen,

How'd you score a date?  I'd have better luck trying to buy a vowel from Vanna.

Someone I knew from college (although I vaguely remember him; he remembers me ... all I remember about him was he was tall ...he's 6-8). He found me on Facebook and started corresponding, was coming through Grand Rapids on his way back from the International Bowl (football game that Northern Illinois, our alma mater, was playing in) and stopped by. We had dinner, he bought, we talked, it was nice, he already has contacted me to say he enjoyed himself. He lives in Minneapolis. That's all so far.

Jacki, I just wanted to tell you that it is alright for you to cry on the inside but not on the outside. Bob is drawing his strength from you and so when you are with someone else or by yourself it is alright to cry and be scared. My prayers are continuing for you both...and know that you are loved and we are here for you always. You can come here and de-stress as you already know. We are never alone as long as we are here with those who love us unconditionally. You are a strong woman....I am so envious of that. I wish I was a stronger woman.

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter
that tells what kind of life you have lived.

Hi Eileen and George and all those yet to breeze by!

Eileen I hope you get a good nap in, Hide the phone or turn it off.

George, go jets.  I wonder if Mary wouldn't mind making me breakfast and lunch.  Can that be shipped?

Hi Jacki -  Hope your kitty stays healthy

Nothing much going on here today.  Suppose to work in the food pantry at Church today.  I wonder if anyone is coming in for food.  Last time no one came.

My son had the intestinal flu all night. It was horrible.  I felt  so sorry for him and I also thought I hope no one else gets it.  I hate this time of season.  Everyone seems sick.

Well... Nothing else is new.  I lost another pound so that makes me happy.  Got rid of the Christmas gain plus one pound.  I know I did the right thing.  It is coming off slow but I will take that.

Have a good day and smile.
