I'm HOME and feeling tired!
I'm home...came home this afternoon. My surgery was supposed to be at 11:30...wow I went in at 8:30. Doctor Foster said everything went smoothly...text book case. The bad parathyroid is gone...biopsies of the thyroid nodules on their way to the pathology lab.
I'm tired...my neck muscles hurt...but...I'm glad its over and I feel pretty good.
They did blood work prior to the surgery..checking my PTH (Parathyroid hormone level)...then did it again during the surgery. I was told the PTH dropped dramatically..which means they got the bad one out and maybe now my calcium will drop and go back to normal.
Well time for bed...slept a lot today...but I'm still tired and woozy from the VERSID..got to love that versid.

Thank you again for all of your prayers and wishes for my speedy recovery. YOU ARE ALL THE BEST!!!!

Marcy
Hi Marcy!
I am glad everything went well for you. Now all you need to do is baby yourself. Nap until you feel like not napping anymore. That is a good sign and rest helps in the healing process.
Hope everything else turns out good for you!
I am on my way. What a ride it has been.

Marcy, Glad you are doing well. Any kind of surgery is a shock to the system. It amazes me that our bodies do as well as they do given the complexities of the human animal. That our heart starts ticking long before we look like anything but an alien and just keeps on ticking without us giving it any thought just is hard to understand. I'm glad it does. If I had to remember to breathe or exchange bad blood for good I'd have been dead a long time ago.
My 41 yr old niece just had 1/2 of her thyroid removed. It had gotten very large; no other symptoms. Doctor said it was wrapped around her esophogus (SP?) They did before and after biopsies and think that the surgery took care of the problem. Sure hope so.
RE those pain meds. I had to write down when I took them or either skip a dose (not likely) or take double (more likely!) When I had my knees replaced I'd watch the clock waiting til time for the next dose. Easy to understand how those in chronic pain can get addicted especially since I have such an addictive personality to start with. Car sickness from my dad smoking and a very weak tolerance for alcohol saved me from those two. Unfortunately food became my one and only and I still work at keeping that animal in its cage!
Get lots of rest Marcy. Winter time is a good time for hibernating and healing.
