Janet,

That's good to hear.  I wasn't directing the statement toward anyone in particular and I hope no one thought I was....I was just commenting how OFF hasn't had conflicts in the year I have been here.

I feel our group is so close and supportive and it's always a pleasure coming here.  I have learned so much from so many of you, and continue to be astonished how successful the people on OH are.  It gives me hope, encouragment, support and, most importantly, friendship.

Wishing you all a glorious day!

Debbie

Hello Carla and everyone else who follows,

Ah, yes, short shifts are wonderful for sure!  Are you flying out early tomorrow, Carla?  Just wanted to send you best wishes for a very nice flight.  :)

As for me, our stepdaughter bailed on her son again, stupid girl.  We're trying again for this afternoon.  T's 6th birthday is tomorrow.  However, he needs to get his H1N1 booster tomorrow afternoon (oweeeee!) so his dad is bringing him over this afternoon to celebrate with cake and presents.  We invited Linda again so let's see if she shows.  Sigh.  My DH and I got him an all-in-one game set with the characters from "Cars"--so, in other words, it's checkers, "Go Fish", "Old Maid" etc but the characters on the games are from the movie.  The little guy loves Cars, especially since the red one (forgot his name) looks like his daddy's race car.

I'm basically just chillaxing today.  Hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday, restful and delightful.
Cassie

Good morning one and all

First, I want to ask all of you to go to the top thread on the board from Kathy S. It has to do with the newsletter that OH is preparing for February. I ignored the request for topics, and used it as a way to express my discontent with the share button.  PLEASE!  Go to the thread and join me in asking OH to fix this!  We're losing people right and left because of it.

Secondly, I saw mention to Marc deactivating his membership, so I "unblocked" him to see what was going on (I know, silly, but I did it) only to see that my name was the first to be mentioned!  I was under the impression that when you blocked someone it was not info available to the person you blocked. I, like Janet, had my own reasons for blocking him that I won't go into.I have only ever blocked one other person and it's that creepy Elan guy from some European country of unknow origin who's trolling for friends.  I did this blocking over a year ago, so why now is this suddenly an issue??? What else is changing here on OH?  I do not like this Sam I Am, I do not like it one little bit!

Now, for things at hand. Yet another day iced into the house. Yesterday I worked out for 30 mins on the Wii, and jogged.....yes JOGGED ( love it to make doctors eat crow) with no ill effects on the foot. I've broken the 133 mark, so this is very, very good.

I'm a little bent, so I'm not going to prattle anymore. Love and hugs to all of you, good thoughts and prayers to everyone in need...even those who aren't!

Susan

Good Morning Carla and OFF'ers!
It's a bright shiny sunny Sunday morn here in NW Ohio and while cold and nippy it's nice and warm I am with just getting out of a warm tub of water and dressing in snugglie clothes.  Warm for a while anyway!
I've not been around again lately, but think of you all often.  Hope you are all doing well.
As you may know, I have lived in NW Ohio almost all my life and have worked at a local hospital here for 35 years.  My financial picture is not pretty right now, and I cannot advance at my current position until I get a degree so one day I was looking on a nursing informatics website and just happened to see the job board and thought, well, heck, I will take a look.  I did and saw a job that I applied for.  Now, you all are going to LAUGH your heads off when I tell you where....it is in the UP of Michigan, up past Marquette, near Lake Superior.  It's a small 25 inpatient bed hospital and they are trying to move from paper documentaton to electronic.  Just my kind of place!  I had an hour long telephone interview and then week before last they flew me up for an inperson interview.  I haven't been offered the job yet as they had a few more interviews but I am hopeful.  I can retire from my current place of employment and collect pension and then I may have a renter for my house here (someone I know well and trust) at a low rate just so someone is living here and working up there too!  I should be able to get everything paid off just fine and maybe someday actually retire!  I have always wanted to live up there, and have been in the area quite a bit actually.  So Please keep the good thoughts flowing for me!
My family is fine with it, although I feel guilty about leaving my parents mostly. My son is/will be fine but I will miss him too of course, although I will keep my eyes open for jobs he can do up there too!  My dad has always wanted to live up there too, so who knows, although since they JUST moved this fall I doubt my mother would like to move again at any time soon!  I will continue to keep taking classes towards my degree, just will take longer then I thought it would.
Weight wise, well, that's another story.  My highest that I know of was about 320, I got down to a low of 155 and I am at about 188-190 right now.  Those darn carbs are at me again.  My goal would be about 165-170 and one good thing is that the hospital up north has a neat wellness center you can join for $20/month and they have everything you need to get a good work out.  If I get the job, I will join and work out right after work and then go home.  Makes it super easy. You can even work with a trainer should you want to pay for it!
So that's my story today and I'm sticking to it!  Have a great day all!

How cool Debbie.  Hubby and I had talked of retiring to the UP, but decided that since we're getting 'older' we wanted to be closer to a good hospital.  Munson in Traverse city is one of the best in northern Michigan.  I understand there is a pretty good one in Marquette tho.  Both of my parents were yoopers, so my heart belongs there.  Love love love it up there.
Here's praying that your dream comes true.

Hi Carla and my OFF family:

It's warmer than it was ... 26 degrees ... and sunny here. I'm down to my last week of work, my last week of my wonderful newspaper career, nearly 31 years in the business that I loved and devoted my life to. It will be sad, but in a way, it will be a good move for me to leave.

I have no big plans for today, there's not even any football on (well, there's the Pro Bowl, but I don't count that ... never really watch it). Just hanging around the house, doing laundry, catching up on my rest before heading back to work on Tuesday.

I am not one who is an early riser here. The only reason I might post early is because I stay up late at work. I usually am at wor****il 2 or 3 a.m.; on Saturdays I get home at 11:30 p.m. (earlier deadline). Last night, I got home and started watching "The Poseidon Adventure." But I got sleepy and didn't finish the DVD ... good movie but I couldn't stay awake. At 8 a.m., Scooter came into bed, meowed at me a couple of times and started giving me kisses on my face. Then he cuddled next to me, purred and we went back to sleep. Got up next at 10:30.

My mother's neighbor fell last week and hit her head, there was blood all over the floor. They don't know if she had a stroke or what. Mom and her neighbor take care of each other, so Mom is worried about her friend. I worry about both of them living alone like that.

Oh well, not much else going on. Just trying to stay warm. Hope everyone has a good day.
