TGI Friday everyone!
Gee, I'm usually not up at this time anymore, since I was forced to "retire". But I can't sleep tonight. I was dozing off during the news after the Olympics and started to get a headache, then started to overheat, and now I can't sleep at all. Took something for the headache, but it isn't working at all.
Had an interesting lunch with the other laid-off coworker, who is delving into "reinventing" his career, looking into marketing, corporate communications, not having a whole lot of luck, but still optimistic. I hope he succeeds. He bought me lunch at least ... wasn't expecting that, I figured I'd buy my own lunch (he's married, and no, I'm not interested in him anyway, but he's a nice guy and we always have a good time over drinks or lunch). Did my shopping before lunch, then came home and found a packet from Social Security and a check from the bankruptcy trustee, so I have more money. It will help with the car repairs and Nettie's dental work. I had to do a search for my birth certificate, which was needed for the disability filing. It took a while and some shredding of a bunch of stuff I no longer need (which is a good thing), but I found the birth certificate in the last place I could think of.
So, did anyone watch the men's figure skating? Evan Lysachek skated so well, I was so happy he won the gold medal.
Well, I'm going to have some vanilla chamomile tea and see if that helps my headache. Have a good day. What do you have planned for the weekend?
Good Morning again. . . don't know what happened there. Just got started and all of a sudden I'm in print! We arrived in Texas Wednesday afternoon. Picked up our rental car and made it to Silsbee, Texas north of Beaumont before dark. Just took one return trip to the terminal area (without intending to) before we got heading in the right direction and out of the airport!
Having a great time with our friends from home who are spending 5 years here. He's working for LaMar University in the education department. He's a retired principal and a high school friend of ours.
Let's see. In a nutshell. . . Yesterday we hit the road with Ted driving. Went to Galveston. It was a beautiful day. Spent a bit of time on the beach picking up shells. . . Never enough time for that. Loved the older areas and enjoyed seeing the houses on stilts. Still quite a bit of evidence of hurricane damage in and around the island. Had a wonderful lunch at "Fishtales" upstairs with a view. Left the island and went to San Jacinto Monument. Guess we're doing Texas history in reverse as we'll visit the Alamo later in the week! Got back home at dark, had soup and sandwiches, watched a bit of the Olympics and crashed. Now as usual I'm awake in the middle of the night!
I think today we'll head over in to western Louisiana, along the gulf coast. It's sure nice to have a tour guide who likes to drive and has been around a bit. They travel a lot with Ted's job so have a pretty good knowledge base. They've been here 3 years.
Tomorrow the guys are going to a LaMar basketball game and Peggy and I will do some antique malls and thrift stores.
Doesn't look like I'll have a chance to catch up with Teri T but should get to see Linda B and Karen M next Wednesday. All y'all have a great day.

I found a nice website to use while I work. Jango.com. It is music. You pick the genre. I keep the 70s on. You also pick the artists you want to hear. Pretty neat stuff and big brother does not have it blocked. Yet.

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

its sure been a long week here for me and the family. im planning a memorial
"party" for Bob on SUnday, he always told me he wanted his freinds to have a
drink and remember the good times, so that is what we shall do.
im doing better, my younger son is with me for at least another whole week. that
alone is a rare treat, but i told him he has to stop visitng for bad reasons, the next
time i want it to me for a happy reason.
needless to say we are deep in paperwork, arggghhhh on that.
i hope everyone is well and had a quiet week, and that you all will enjoy the
weekend coming up.
