Hi Remember Me?????
Hi All
Well I thought I would check in & let you know I am still alive. About 3 maybe 4 weeks ago I stopped taking all of my perscription drugs ( do not recommend this without Dr's approval) Mine
still does not know I did it. The good news is I have lost 10 lbs in 3 weeks
& feel sooooo much
better without the darn drugs. I was up to 8 they all had different side effects & the side effects are what was making everything worse. I am sleeping better, feel better & am eating a whole
lot less food without that stuff.
Now I go to a new Dr. in March & will have new labs done & see if there are any I might have to
go back on, but, I am not going back to 8 of them.
I haven't read on how everyone is doing yet, I hope all is good. Sorry i have been MIA will try to
check in more often.
I am also going to my local TOPS & that is helping with support I have never had any of.
I very happy with the 10 lbs weight loss. I was going the wrong direction & that was causing big time problems. I took my health back to prove MY point- My Doc would not listen to me & I got
Mad. I am doing much better so far. I monitor My Blood pressure daily & it's better without the drugs & sugars are O.K with the low-carb lifestyle I try to stick to.
Again I don't reccomend you go out & try this (stopping Meds) for me she was killing me softly
with all of them. Most of the drugs were doing oppisite things that they were suppose too, due to
the malobsorption WLS folk have. She could not get that.
Hope you are all doing O.K- I will try & catch up- this is a busy board-so I don't know if I can catch
up on everything. Have a good week.

Hi Marilyn, we haven't met yet since I'm fairly new to this board and new with WLS.
It was a brave thing you did, to cut off your meds, especially without your doctor's approval, but I, for one, understand you completely. It was meds and all their side-effects that brought me to this point and I know that if I don't lighten up on the meds soon, I have no chance of ever becoming healthier!
Since my surgery I have cut down drastically on some of the meds I take and stopped others completely. I know I will never be med-free, MS is a nasty disease that turns around and bites you in the back if you let up your guard, but keeping to a minimum on everything is my motto nowadays.

I didn't recognize the avatar, but I did recognize the Bullhead and Bearlady! Glad you're feeling well these days. I hear you about the meds. I'm still on probably 5, but the dosage has been reduced so that's a step in the right direction. We'll see what happens in another 3 months.
Have you found a job? Things are so tough around here. More people than not are looking for work. My son is an elementary school teacher (5th grade) and was just told that 12 jobs have to go the end of the school year, and he's #9. He just had a new baby in December, so it looks like he'll be a stay at home Dad for a while until he gets called back. Hopefully it won't be too long of a wait.
You've got a lot of catching up to do.
Glad to see you back!
