Oh, I forgot to tell you of other books I am interested in.  Anything to do with the West Memphis Three.

It is about three young boys who have been charged with the killings of three younger boys.  Although there is no evidence that links the older boys ( now men) to the crimes Memphis will not let them appeal the decision.  These boys have been in Jail for 16 years.  I firmly believe they are all innocent.  There are documentarys' of this on Disk.  Get them if you have not heard about them.    Free the West Memphis Three.  I have been a follower since the murders have taken place

Peace
Mary

I am on my way.  What a ride it has been.

Hi Ruth,
I'm thinking you probably don't want any heavy thinking type books, right?  Some books I'd recommend that have mystery in them:

Nightmare House by Douglas Clegg--mystery who-dun-it in a haunted house
More Than You Know by Beth Gutcheon--a love story, mystery & ghost story all rolled into one

True Crime:
Blood Will Tell by Carlton Smith
Everything She Ever Wanted by Ann Rule

And other good books that aren't mysteries or horror:

Molokai by Alan Brennert
Cold Sassy Tree by Olive Ann Burns
The Help by Kathryn Stockett
Push by Sapphire

I know you'll find lots of good books in the suggestions from everyone.  :)

Hi Cassie,
I like Anne Rule...I got my grandfather started on her too.
I'm on the "wait list" for "The Help" for about 4 months, maybe longer.

It's funny how I couldn't think of any good authors last night and with everyone posting I'm like, Oh yeah I like her or he's good.... funny how that happens.

Thanks for the suggestions.....I'm sure I'll be picking up at least 6 books next week.

I like the Lawrence Sanders books with the Archie McNally character.  Light, entertaining, funny mystery novels.  There are about a dozen books in the series.

And anything by PG Wodehouse.  The Jeeves books. Very entertaining but probably out of style these days.

Good luck with the surgery.

James Patterson's latest, The Worst Case, is not the Alex Cross character, but it is still good.  It is the NYC detective who is widowed with 10 kids.  Good book, just like all of Patterson's mysteries.  I especially like his writing style with short chapters, gives you a chance to put the book down while at work.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!
