My Ambulance ride fixed me up.....
...I just was not feeling well last Thursday, chest pain, nausea and pain down my left arm....so "fabulous"? nurse that I am...said ..."maybe I should go over to Urgent care.and get checked out."
The doc there said I want you to go over to St. Mary's and have some cardiac enzymes run and I say okay...where do I go...he said "No, we don't want you to drive thre"...I said "Okay I can call my husband..." He said "no we want to monitor you"....I said "Don't tell me you want to send me in an ambulance?.....he said "you know the symptoms, you are a nurse and that is what brought you in here....it is best we do it this way"....
So off I went.....halfway there after giving me some nitro spray under my tongue....he told the driver to "kick it up".....I said..."please tell me it is just because you want to get through traffic".....he grinned and said "that too"...so my wild ride ensued....
48 hours later with tons of tests, cat scan, endoscope...etc......We found out I have an Ulcer!!!
I am very thankful it is not my heart, not a pulmonary embolusim....and "just" an ulcer. I am taking some designer drug....my co-pay is $75...per month yikes!....and trying to get better. I am also limiting myself to ONE glass of wine a day.....and somedays none. I guess that whenever I ate something...it would burn and if I would drink some wine...it would numb the pain and I could eat more......so none of that now....I tend to prefer milk now.
Hope all is well with you guys....and Susan...Happy Birthday late.....I could not get on to Elfster.
Love, Marti

"Be kinder than necessary, for everyone is fighting some kind of battle"
Yeah for you.....I am also trying to work out everyday for an hour as my diabetes has reared it's ugly head.....and I swear I will NEVER go aback on insulin....they gave me insuline in the hospital, but now I am just taking my Blood Sugars two to three times a day. Insulin makes your body hold on to fat and leads you down a slippery slope. What are you doing at the gym. I had a appointment with a personal trainer yesterday and got schooled on all the fantastic new equipment they have. I am trying the elipitical machine now and it is kind of fun. I am a little tippy because of my vertigo...so I have to be careful. You go girl...Love, M

Marti, I like the eliptical because my balance isn't too great either. I get a good arm workout and it seems to make the leg motions easier than the treadmill. I basically do 2 30 minute programs. First one on the treadmill because I hate it, and then one on the eliptical. I do a 30 minute "variety" program on the eliptical and then a 30 min eliptical program either weight loss, variety, or tomorrow I plan to try the cross country hill climb. I need to get into the weights stuff but it just takes so much more time. I think we got lulled into thinking WLS was a magic cure and we're now far enough out that to get the results we want we have to work at it. And if you're anything like me physical activity IS work. Darn it all anyway! Have a good one Marti. It is always so good to see your smiling face.

I AM SOOOO IMPRESSED WITH YOU!!!! I could not do a 10 minute work out ont he eliptical it is so exhausting do the stairs....let alone two 30 minute workouts...I have not worked myself up to doing the swinging step yet......but it definitely get the heart rate up into the optimum zone...my health club has the fancy new ones like they have on The Biggest Loser...Startrac and Precor.....so I can watch TV listen to music etc.
Good job! Love, M

Marti, I started out doing about 3 minutes a day on the eliptical. The ones we have at our Golds Gym are Precor models and have a tv attached with multiple stations. I get into an episode of something and it sure makes the time pass or I can listen to music also. When our new gym is finished they are doing to have a huge cardio theatre screen with first run movies! How cool will that be?
