Over 50 and 0ver 50
Hi Andi,
Welcome to the group!
I had my surgery at 57. My highest weight was 354. I lost over 120 lbs on Atkins but it took me four years.
Went through a lot of tests, but it was good to find out, I had nothing serious wrong with my heart due to being so overweight I was worried.
Lots of tests to get done, but in the end it is worth it.
Know longer a diabetic, No high blood pressure, no more edema and getting cellulitis, cholesteral is in the ok range. I still have sleep apnea. Would like another test for that to see if I still need oxygen at night and the bi pap machine.
Not one complication and I can eat anything.. Not sure if that is a good things or not. I stay away from anything with white flour, don't eat bread, rice or noodles. No soda's, but once in a great while have a small piece of pizza. One thing I found hard to give up.
So, you are just starting your journey. Good luck and stick around here. You can find people here who are helpful and give good advice.
Peace

Welcome to Over Fifty Briar Rose. I love your nickname... when my daughter was young we must have watched Sleeping Beauty 200 times! I had my surgery in late 2007- RNY. I lost 120 pounds- didn't make it to goal, but I made it to success! In my case I had more hoops than most to jump through, but I was able to have the surgery anyway, just not as quickly as I would have liked. My daughter had the surgery also and has done well. Neither of us has had any complications and we are both glad that we had the surgery. Feel free to join us here as much as you can .... we would love to have you!
