OT: The Roxie Incident. . .

Ok, enough of you asked, however, I did mention it in yesterday's thread, but here is the unvarnished mishap as it happened and then some (lol). . .

Roxie has been itching and biting really bad, so I bought some medicated shampoo that would alleviate it if it were parasites of any kind (even though I use a topical medication for that stuff); went home took her in the small front bathroom, being I needed her in the bathtub and getting her into my garden tub might have been a challenge, anyway I followed the directions and I must say she really is good about taking a bath.

When she was done, I dried her off and sent her to hang out with Aunt DiDi (my roommate), at which point, I put on a terri robe, since I got a bath in the bargin, I then proceeded to clean up the mess on the floor.  There I was on my hands and knees mopping up the mess, just about to get up, when bam, Roxie hit the door full throttle (all 80+ lbs of her) which just happened to hit my head with what I believe was the door handle, it was an explosion, as in I saw stars. . .  at first laughter and wobbly from the experience and a bit denial of what I would find when I put my hand to my head, thinking I know I have a hard head, I felt the wet warmth, and so the denial broke as I saw the evidence appear on my hands and down my face. . .  nauseous and a definitely wobbly, I grabbed a clean towel from the linen closet and asked Diane to get me an ice pack and found my way to the couch.  Diane was freaking as she saw the blood and I told her to calm down, it's a head wound and they bleed the worst.  After a few minutes I tried to see the damage in the mirror and it looked rather ugly, but I did not want to go to an emergency room needlessly, plus I did not feel up to driving and my roommate does not drive.  Roxie being her best self, was like a jumping bean until she realized I was hurt.  Finally, after a few calls were made to friends that live close by, I got a hold of a good friend of mine who happens to be a nurse and she had just gotten home from work; she said she would be right over with her steri strips and see if she could fix me up, otherwise she would wisk me to the hospital if that's what I needed, which is ultimately what happened and where I found I finally had a brain (lol). . .  5 staples in my head (thankfully my hairline) and a CAT scan proved the fact that I have a brain. . .

So this morning I went to the doctor to have the scalp laceration checked and to discuss my posion ivy options. . .  When I woke up this morning, my eyes were almost swollen shut.  Anyway, I was given a prescription for a topical cream for any new outbreaks, of which there were a few and samples of a new antihistamine that I was told to take at night since the side benefit (at this point a welcome one for me) is it makes one rather sleepy.  She feels I am just having a severe allergic reaction to the ivy and that the stress of the past two weeks are inhibiting my healing process (deer incident, posion ivy, work being extremely stressful the past 2 weeks) and add the 5 staples to it all. . .  Also, was told to call the vet to see what I can wash the dog in so she is not bringing it into the house on her coat, as dogs can't get it, but can get the oil on their fur and bring it to us.  Tony is going to cordon off the area in the yard where the ivy was, so that Roxie can't go there, which she does on occasion looking for the rabbits.

Hope I made some of you laugh, because the incident was funny, it's just not so much on top of all that I've endured the past 2 weeks. . .  oh and another thing. .. had I gone to visit my uncle in NC I would not have been working on my yard, nor driving that highway where the deer hit my car on Easter Sunday, and Wednesday when I went home and gave Roxie a bath, I was supposed to have gone to have dinner with my DIL and the grandkids, but Avery got sick and so instead I went home and well it is what it is. . .lol

My Mantra is that I do not determine my success by the number hanging in my closet, nor will I let the scale determine that success either. . .  It is through trial and error I will continue to grow and succeed. . .  Laureen

Some people might not support my WLS decision.
Those people remind me of slinkys. Not good for much but it would would bring a smile to my face if someone pushed them down the stairs.
