Debbie,

I am sorry for your loss. After reading your comments it is obvious that you are taking this quite well, knowing they are together and at peace.

Warm hugs

Well looks like everyone else slept in or have better things to do than get on OH.  It's part of my morning ritual.  Once I'm ready for work, I fix a protein drink.  Get in my easy chair with my laptop, watch Good Morning America then off to work.  I think I'm in a rut. LOL

Had my 2 month post-op visit yesterday.  I talked to him about my continued weakness.  He says I need to increase my calorie intake.  500-600 are just too few.  Yes, I knew that, but HOW can I take more calories in?  He doesn't want me to snack.  I can't eat any more than I am now.  So I have to "snack" with a protein drink.  UGH!  Three protein drinks a day.  Not sure I can do this!  They don't taste bad, but they don't taste good either.  Just tolerable.   Guess I'll do it.  I have to do it to get my strength back.

He is going to remove my gall bladder on May 13.  He could have done it this Thursday.  That just wouldn't work for me.  I have a meeting via the web with our regional offices.  I was asked by the Iowa Dept. of Public Health to be the "test pilot" for a new program a few weeks ago.  This webinar is to train the others in my 18 county region.  Thursday is also my grandson's 6th birthday and I don't want to miss that.

So I'll wait 3 weeks and pray that I don't have any more gall bladder episodes.  (sigh)

Everyone have a great day.

Wanda,

Liven up the protein drinks by adding some fruit or sugar free syrups, maybe some ice cubes to make them more like a smoothie. . .

Laureen - What kind of sugar free syrups do you like?  I've seen them on line, but not sure if they are any good.

I've used DaVinci and Torani ... both are good. I have used caramel, chocolate, white chocolate, German Chocolate Cake (only DaVinci), Kahlua (DaVinci), orange, vanilla, French Vanilla, Irish Cream ... can't remember all of them. I know there's also English toffee and a few others. Netrition.com has DaVinci on sale most of the time, and they charge a flat $4.95 for shipping, no matter how much you buy.

some grocery stores and walmart carry a limited selection in the coffee aisle-usually up high on the shelf--make sure you get the sugar free

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

Wanda,

I have used DaVinci and even Target's brand, hazelnut, french vanilla, carmel, chocolate, irish cream, amaretto, kalua and coconut, they are a good way to liven things up, I use them in my coffee and many times I find them in Marshalls or Ross Dress for Less for 4.99 or 5.99 for the big bottle, but as Eileen said, you can order them online from netrition.com.  You can even try adding a little reduced fat peanut butter and sugar free hersey's syrup as additives to your protein drink.  I used the unflavored Any Whey and then added things, though my surgeon wanted us to eat, rather than drink our protein once we could, so I was done with them by the time I was 2 months post-op.

Hope all this helps you and good luck.

Laureen

I didn't know Target carried those.  I'll be in Des Moines this weekend.  I'll check it out.

Thanks!

Target has two sugar free flavors, hazelnut and vanilla,  the other flavors I found in Marshalls or you can get online at Netritition.com
