Hey, y'all, it's my weekend ... it's Monday!

Hi y'all ... my weekend starts right now. And the White Sox are in first place at the All-Star break (that's baseball for you nonsports fans). So I am in a good mood.

Plus, I did my first Monroe News-Star sports section by myself (well, mostly ... the assistant managing editor likes to dictate a lot of things, and at this point, I'll let him), got it done well before deadline without a lot of problems, just minor stuff. I learned how to do automatic jumps (or they're also called linked jumps ... they wouldn't let us do them in Grand Rapids ... said they couldn't handle them in our library system). They are so easy and so much nicer than doing manual jumps. And I learned to post stuff to the website (that was pretty easy, too). So there was a lot of learning to do. My only real issue is my knee is really hurting me ... and actually felt like it was giving out again. If I had insurance, I'd go find an ortho doc here, but no insurance right now. Maybe in August. Right now, I'll take some pain pills and put some ice on it.

My brother is settling in at my mom's house, but he doesn't like living in Franklin Park ... he misses his small town of Hartford, Wis. ... too big in FP now, people aren't nice, the stores are crappy, he doesn't like going to my mom's Catholic church (our old church, Gary has been attending a Lutheran church since he was married to a Lutheran) ... he says the Catholic church is too structured, people are standoffish, the priest acts as if he is above everyone (and we know they aren't). But Gary took Mom and their neighbor, Mrs. Asta, to St. Gertrude's on Sunday ... it's only three blocks away, and we always walked it, but now they have to drive. Mom doesn't even like St. Gert's anymore, but goes there for Mrs. Asta; she'd rather go to St. Beatrice's in Schiller Park where she and Aunt Bernice used to go. Anyway, Gary's trying to make the best of it. Gary's cat is even sitting on Mom's lap, and Mom actually likes the cat now.

I guess both of us are trying to fit in ... I know I am enjoying my new life. I didn't know if I would want to do sports ... I know now some of the reasons I didn't want to do sports again had to do with the Grand Rapids sports department ... they didn't want me, and I knew it. I felt I was being shuffled over there and then out the door. Which is exactly what happened. Now here, they want me in sports because they want my expertise, because no one else knows anything about sports.

Anyway, I've babbled on long enough. I'm kinda wired tonight. I'm sure my drugs will kick in soon and I'll get sleepy. Anyway, what are your plans for Monday? I have more unpacking to do. I have to get rid of some of these empty boxes too. So that's my plan ... then I'll watch the home run derby tonight and have a beer.

Have a good day.

Good morning, Eileen, this is so cool!  It's sounding more and more like this job and move are a real blessing for you!  :D

Good morning everyone on OH!

I still don't have much to report.  It's hot, I'm still hovering by my daughter, and we're still watching lots of movies, lol.

Have a marvelous Monday all!

Good Monday morning, ya'll.

Eileen, it sounds like you are settling in to your new job very well. That is wonderful. I was just listening to George on GMA talk about stress in the workplace and how it can lead to real health problems.  It must be very hard in this current environment.  Used to be if you hated your job you could tell them to sh*ve it and go find another.  That isn't quite so easy these days. I am so glad I am out of the work force!!

I have a box of crochetted baby things to mail to my daughter.  Waiting for an answer as to whether she wants it mailed to her house (meaning her DH would have to go to the PO to pick it up), or sent to her office where her secretary is always there to receive the mail.

We got the official invitation to our grandson's wedding!!  We had gotten their 'save the date' card last month. I never heard of the save the date card until then. One more added expense for the poor folks planning weddings.  But they have been planning theirs for over a year, and paying for everything themselves, a little at a time.

My suitcase is on the spare bed waiting to be packed for my trip to NY.  I leave Thursday. I am usually half packed by now.  I think it has something to do with the 25 pounds I gained while I was unfilled after chemo.  But then I remind myself that the last time I saw any of these people I was 100 pounds heavier than I am right now. But I SOOO wanted to have that extra weight off. I just put off really working on it.  Now there is no way to lose 25 pounds in 3 days.  Unless I cut off an arm!!

Everyone have a fantabulous day!!

Haven't been on in a while...lots of stuff happening in my neck of the woods..

My mom had her heart surgery ..she is home and doing well...
Yesterday..my beautiful courageous SIL lost her battle with cancer.
She died peacefully at home with her family and mine all there...such sadness...she was only 47.
Sorry to lay this on all of you..but I just had to talk about it to someone...Annette was home last night so I called her.  She is an angel...

Well won't be on again for awhile as I have obligations this week.
Blessings and well wishes for all.

Marcy, I am so sorry. As a cancer survivor I always wonder why some survive & some don't. You will be in my thoughts & prayers.

Thank you Nan..and may I say I am very glad that you survived...I think Vicki's (SIL) body and soul just got tired and couldn't fight anymore..

She looked very peaceful at the end..she just went to sleep and never woke up again.  I'm glad for that.

Sorry about your SIL ... don't apologize for unburdening yourself. We all need to do that somewhere. I have done it enough here. If I didn't have this forum, I'd go nuts. I don't have people to talk to sometimes. Y'all are my support group.

Thank you Eileen..I know how you feel about the people on here...
I think its easier to unburden ourselves here cause there is no judgement....can't always do that with family.

Thank you all for your support and well wishes..we will get through this.... one day at a time.  You are all angels in my book...!!!!!!
