OT Just got notified i'm losing my position at work...

I plan to.  I looked it up on the FMLA site yesterday.  Since I'm in a key position and noone else knows my job, they can replace me but they are supposed to give me a comparable position when I return.  Going from Dept. Head to floor nurse sounds like a demotion to me.  I emailed her to ask about any pay changes, if I'd still be working day shift, etc.  I'm waiting to see what she says.

I plan to  check everything out.  I'm calling the Dept. of labor today to ask a few questions.  I am not going to take a demotion.

Sybul, I think that's a good way of approaching things. The dept of labor should be impartial and give you straight answers. Best wishes,

Oh my gosh, that's just *awful*!  Why are they not bringing you back to your old position?

Something similar is happening to my brother.  He's been the produce manager of a store for almost 27 years and found out they're advertising his position (as well as the meat manager's position) in the paper.

What a low down skunky thing to do to people!

That sucks for your brother too.  The worse part of the whole thing is that my boss is also my niece.

Good luck, Sybul.   Sounds really off base to me.

Sybul, so sorry.

SOunds like something is fishy in Denmark.  I also think doing it over the phone was inapproptiate.  Easy for her, she didn't have to face you.

I hope something good comes out of something bad.  Maybe you will like the new position better.

It seems employees are throw away workers anymore.  No one is secure, no matter what you give or how hard you work.

I hope things brighten up for you.

Peace

Mary

Thanks Mary.  I agree.  It was pretty awful to tell someone with major depression who was just contemplating suicide that oh, by the way, we're hiring someone else to take your place we can't wait for your release.  So much for FMLA.

Hi Sybul,

I sure hope things work out for you. . .  I am having issues where I work and thinking that my days are numbered here, unfortunately, while I am being proactive, it does not appear that the economy has brought any life back to the job market and I just pray and hope that something good happens before the axe swings. . .  it's very hard to come to work these days for me. . .

Certainly wishing you the best of all outcomes!

Hugs, Laureen
