9 month check up today
I had my 9 month check up today. I'm 10.5 months out, doc had to cancel my appointment last month due to a speaking engagment he was asked to do at the last minute.
I'm doing well. He was very happy with my weight loss. I have 6 pounds to go to hit the goal he set for me prior to surgery
I have to go for an upper GI on Monday. He is a bit concerned about some of the problems I'm still having with food. Gene ratted me out about last Saturday. We went out to breakfast with some friends, I did not over eat, chewed everything to liquid consistency, ended up sick and throwing up for the rest of the day. Then for a couple days after I usually stick to all liquids as my pouch does not like anything else and also protests the liquids but is accepting of them.
I was not going to tell doc about this - Gene perked right up when I didn't mention it and told doc all about it. Guess it is something doc needs to know. So I am scheduled for an upper GI on Monday morning. They also drew blood in the doctors office to check all my levels to see if I'm good now that I'm on regular B-12 shots and Iron. We did discuss with him that our PCP is not on board with B-12 shots monthly but is on board to have them given quaterly. We asked doc if our PCP's take that keeping the range @400 instead of higher is a good range. He said the reason many docs put their patients on overload is because as patients get further out they stop the B-12, this way with the overload for the non-complient patients keeps them from getting tired and loosing all the B12. He said at this point I'm so complient to all the rules and since Gene has been through the surgery 4.5 yrs ago and is also complient he feels that our PCP's recommendations are good for me.
All in all it was a good visit.
BEST of ALL....Gene and I fit together on one chair in the doctors office - HOW COOL IS THAT!!!!!! They have the oversized chairs in the office
