Good Moring All,
Well today I start my 2 week pre- op diet, 2 meal replacements and a sensible dinner. I sound like a Slim Fast commercial. LOL
I had a nice relaxing weekend. My brother and wife invited my hubby and 2 sons, myself and our 89 yr old dad to a BBQ and pool party yesterday, sort of a last "fat" celebration. I actually had the nerve to put on a swimsuit, I figured this would be the last time anyone whould see me like this. We all had a great time until the storms moved in. Summers in Florida are so unpredictable.
Have a great day.

Good Morning, George and All
I'm headed out in a few minutes for a hair cut. Then a bit of running around, then home for the rest of the day.
I'm working on finding homes for three kittens, approx. 5 weeks old, whose mother wa**** by a car a few days ago. They're all pretty wild, but they come pretty close when I bring out food, so there's hope, I think. I've never dealt with stray cats up close and personal, and I'm afraid I'm bonding with them. Does naming them count as bonding? 'Fraid so. I still need to get them gone or before we know it, there'll be 13 instead of 3. I probably shouldn't have started feeding them, but they're so tiny, and they cried, and I couldn't let them starve.
If I have to, I'll call the Humane Society. I hate to, but I already have three adult cats, and I can't deal with any more, especially cute, furry, destructive kittens....
They're cute. If anyone's interested, do you think UPS will deliver???
Just kidding. Sort of.
Everyone have a good day.

Five weeks old !!!! My God they are babies. They should be fairly easy to socialize with patience. I had a really wild stray once. He was mostly black with white on the neck and chest. I called him Mr. Dude because he looked like he was wearing a tux. It took me months to get him to let me hold him. I put his food down and just sat a few feet away and closed the gap as time went by. Gradually he let me touch him and eventually I could hold him. He never did get used to anyone else. If you have to call the humane society they should have good luck adopting these cuties out. It's the older cats that have a hard time getting homes.

Candy,
They don't multiply if you have them all neutered.
Group discount?
Of course you had to feed the little babies. Now explain to them that you are their foster Momma, not permanent Momma.
Don't worry, people always want kittens. Or suckers like me who just like felines ... period.

Yes, I would love to keep them all, but I absolutely cannot have any more cats. As it is, it's an act of God to try to get someone to mind my three when I travel. And I can't keep up with the cat hair. If I had a live-in maid/sitter, I'd have a dozen of them. All neutered. But I can't pay to have every stray that comes around neutered. And I can't house any more of them.
I don't think it's fair to keep them as outside cats. It gets way to cold around here in the winter. And, with my next door neighbor gone (the one who fed 17+ feral cats for many years), the local population has finally greatly decreased as they've mostly wandered on. Outside cats make a mess in the gardens and they agitate my inside cats. They have to go. The problem is that the shelters are full, and they don't want any more.
I'll see what I can do about finding them homes. They're already pretty good about letting me stay nearby when I feed them, but I haven't been able to touch them. I'll keep working on it. The shelter will be the last resort.
Damn, but they're cute. Miss Hissy, Stripe and Piglet. Obvious nicknames, but very appropriate.

Good Morning George, OFFr's
Good to see you posting the thread this morning and happy to hear you are busy living life. . .
As for myself, yesterday I saw Tony, he left, then I put together my Buffalo Chicken Dip (low fat style), cut up some celery and went off to a support group that was formed for those of us further out from surgery. It was a good group and brought out a lot of the oldtimers who stopped coming to the monthly one at the place I had my surgery, as the needs of the newer folks get tended to, but not those further out, which since we started breaking down to groups by various post-op time the last two months, is now changing, but still, the need further out seems to be very strong and so we will have this group to go to. After that I headed home, stopped at the grocery store to pick up a few sale items I needed to prepare food and then went home, relaxed a bit, fed and walked Roxie and than got to cooking and slicing and figuring what I would be eating this upcoming week, prepared a lot of vegetables, sliced up the zucchini that I've grown so that it can be frozen and by the time all was said and done it was close to 9 p.m., I sat down and ate dinner, watched a little television before it was time to hit the sack. . . slept like a charm. . . woke up and began to get ready for work, when I started itching my right wrist and I was like, what the heck is that? Seems somehow or another, I picked up some poision ivy again, can't imagine where, as I have been extremely careful whenever I do yardwork, wearing gloves, washing in cool water when I come inside, oh well, lucky for me I recognized what it is and had some cream left from my event in April and it seems to be working just fine, seems only to be that one area too, so I am thankful for that, as I certainly don't want to relive that nightmare. . . anyway, I am work and it will be a week of projects because my one boss is out of the office on vacation and the other one, well she is not being deluged at the moment. . .
Anyway, wanted to jump on board and say hey and wish everyone the best possible day.
Hugs, Laureen

Hi George and my OFF family:
It's my weekend. 92 degrees and rising here. Supposed to get up to 106 today. I have no plans other than to unpack, do laundry, maybe make a run out to the grocery store for a couple items, like deli meats. I realized yesterday I had nothing to bring for lunch at work ... had to go out and get something (went to McDonald's and got a salad ... pretty good, actually, who knew?). I have wraps but no meat to put it them. Also need eggs. Important essential protein. I was so hungry when I got home last night I made an omelet. That left me with two eggs.
Man, I'm so tired. I love working, but at the end of the week, I'm worn out. But it's a good tired. Just my body is hurting. But I tried a few different things with my pages yesterday, tried to be more creative. Still got done on time (barely) ... was pushing it at the end. Shouldn't have because I had most of it done in plenty of time, but then held on to it to fine-tune things. Just too much of a perfectionist, I guess. I want to hold onto this job.
Well, I don't have much else going on ... I would like to get my hair cut sometime soon ... I look like a wild woman, this hair is getting so long.
Oh, I meant to mention ... I may be coming to Dallas later this month. My niece-in-law (if there is such a word ... my nephew's wife) is having a baby shower Aug. 22. She and my nephew now live in Dallas and are expecting a baby boy 10-10-10 ... I was invited to the shower and I'm hoping to get the day off, then I could drive down on Sunday, stay Monday, drive back on Tuesday. So we'll see if that works out. I have to wait to see if I can get a personal day on Sunday for my Fourth of July holiday.
Well, have a good day. Stay cool.
