What's New for Friday...

Julia and George, sure hope you're doing better soon!  It's always somethin', huh?

Not a lot going on here but work. That new nail product that I started doing in May has gone crazy! I have more clients than I can get in in a week, and the supplier has been so overwhelmed with orders you can hardly find product. Before they launched the product they had an estimated 8 month supply in their warehouse. Sold it out in 3 weeks!  Fortunately, I kind of saw it coming and stockpiled what I could, now if I could just invent a day with more hours in it to accomodate the new clients I'd be fine. I feel so lucky to be in such a situation when so many people are out of work. When some of the girls at the salon are just hanging out and I'm running like a marathoner I feel a bit guilty. But, they can do nails too, they just choose not to. Oh well.

Okay, off to the shower and to find something cool to wear. Will be glad when I get the plastics done and I don't have to wear sweaters to cover the wings.

Love and hugs to all, especially those dealing with health/personal issues. Remember, we're here for ya!

Julia & George - OUCH ouch ouch!! Gentle hugs to both and feel better.

My computer had a hissy fit and I couldn't connect to the internet. The bariatric coordinator had a big project for me to work on but it was impossible without internet access.

At first I stewed about the work not getting finished on time, then Marcy came to visit and the day was relaxing, Swim class was cancelled at the last minute but we decided to head to the gym anyway.

We spent 2 hours in the pool then soaked in the hot tub. More like 'COOKED" in the hot tub. While in there I lost track of time and stayed too long. Man oh man - I got very dizzy. Way more than I admitted at the time.

Must get moving on and catch up on work.

Kisses

Good Morning Julia, George, Mary, Margo, Annette and anyone else to come. . .

Julia, my cousin, also a school teacher, is on vacation in Florida and her husband did not clean up the water from the tiled floor and she walked into take a shower and wound up flat on her back, hurt but refused to go to the hospital, says she is feeling better. . .  anyway, I sure do hope you heal up well, these injuries we suffer always have reprucussions down the road.

George, now that you shared your story, I am definitely not getting the insurance, as my first winter in the house, my water heater went, it cost me $650 to buy and have a new one installed and that was with the permit.  Sorry, funny thing, none of these things ever seems to happen at a good time, I wish you a safe and speedy recovery from your surgery.

Mary, hope your day goes smoothly.

Nettie, sounds like you got just what you needed a relaxing day.

Margo, hope that you have a wonderful day.

as for myself, YAY it's Friday and most of the outer offices will be at a conference today, which means that I can go into work, finish my filing project in time for the return of one of my people on Monday and then I can kind of while away the day.  I will make a noon AA meeting, as there is one I attend often 3 blocks from work and it is a good one, after work if the humidity has dropped enough, I will take Miss Roxie to the dog park so she can play with her friends and then home to relax, yeah right, probably do some much needed straightening up, stuff just builds up during the work week, as I have little time for things like housework. . .

Looking forward to tomorrow's support group meeting,

Have a Fabulous Friday everyone and I wish peace and strength to anyone with pressing life issues.

Hugs, Laureen

Hi everyone.  I am 61, scheduled for surgery, RNY on 9-9-10.  I thought until this week I was going for the sleeve but insurance wouldn't approve that.  I had been following the sleeve board but now am looking for a new "home".  I am also a lightweight, 4'11", 212lbs so I have visited that board too.  My news today is that I am going in to find out about the 4 week Optifast diet I will be on from Sat until Surgery.  I've been eating lots of "last suppers" of things I won't have for months or ever again and am ready to get on with this process.

Good morning everyone...

Julia..hope you feel better soon. I too teach school and its hard when you hurt.

George...good luck with your surgery.

Yesterday was a hot sticky day here again.  I'm waiting for the humidity to just calm down some.  Went to the pool with Annette...2 hours of bliss.  I just love it!!  When we have class I am not allowed in the hot tub (cause I'm not a member of the gym) but, yesterday we went in.....HEAVEN !!!

Today I'm hanging out with my granddaughter, who I am finding out was playing on my computer this morning.  I'll have to see if she went "browsing" any where she shouldn't have.
Hope you all have a good day... hugs to those who hurt...prayers and blessings for all.

Welcome to the Over Fifty Forum.

There are many things you won't want post-WLS, there are others you may miss from time to time, but with a little creativity, many things can be reworked in ways that you won't ever look back longingly.  Suggestion is to work on changing your thought processes with relation to food and learning what healthier choices can be made.  I am sure once you experience the benefits of post-surgery life you will be happy with your decision.

Best wishes for your upcoming surgery, Laureen

Good mornin', ya'll.

I hope everyone is feeling better. The ho****er heater we bought when we moved into this house has a lifetime warrenty. I'm glad because we had to replace it after 4 years. We had major calcium deposits inside.  Now we drain it every 6 months.

A neighbor kid has his 16th birthday party today (another one of my adopted grandkids). They are renting the HUGE water slide that they all seem to like this summer. Our older NC grandson helped go pick it up and set it up and now he is here for breakfast, before heading for work. I have a little while before heading to water aerobics.

We are supposed to have big storms coming today. I hope they wait until the party is over, and I have done all my errand running. We usually just put in a brief appearance at these teenager's birthday parties. I'm sure they don't really care if we come or not, and the music and the crowds isn't a lot of fun for us.

Everyone have a fantabulous day!

Hi Julia and all my OFF friends,
So many injuries.  Get better soon Julia and George.  Margo, it sounds like Michael has too much time on his hands.  It must be so frustrating for you.
More frustration from our CA office.  I had a guy email me back that frankly, he wanted no part of the procedures. Ha!  I will escalate to my boss.  It makes me apathetic.  These guys make so much more than me and they are such prima-donnas.
Welcome Price.
Nothing on the schedule for the weekend.  This is good.  As we get closer to school starting, my schedule gets chaotic.  I have a good feeling I will accomplish some house cleaning/organizing this weekend.
Hubby cooked our steak on the grill last night and it was yummy.  Enough left over to make some sort of sliced beef with mushrooms and gravy for tonite.  I love the fat free gravies. They aren't much of a calorie hit either.  I find I need a sauce or gravy to give moisture to meat.  It helps get it down better.
Going out to mail the postcards for our cub scout pack fishing derby at lunch hour.  Also cashing the check to buy the supplies.
Hugs and wishes for a great day to all.
Bev
