today is my ex's birthday- we have a standing joke about it.
boring saturday at work;got some shopping done including material to make bedroom curtains -mom bought me a sewing machine at a yard sale- sure hope it works- really appreciate her purchase-would really like to have purchased a new one this fall....
we were at the goodwill yesterday- i bought a bright orange corduroy overshirt-well a men's xl--so that when i walk the dogs this fall we will be identifiable-distinguished between human and deer! very important in northern michigan! most of you don't know that i loathe the color orange- it should be reserved for fruit and marigolds!
well- need to make coffee now that i think the power is going to stay on...
hugs and prayers...............
I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

Good mornin', ya'll.
Well, today is our oldest's 44th birthday! He comes home from deployment on Wednesday. We will all be so glad to see him again. This should be his last deployment. He will be at a training squadron here for the last 3 years of his enlistment. Then he'll retire with 30 years of service.
OK, how do I fire my housekeeper? I am no good at that kind of thing. She isn't doing as good a job as she did when we first hired her. And she not only visits with us, but plops right down in the recliner and talks for an hour while her helper cleans, or if she is alone, she visits and then rushes through the cleaning. My DIL knows of another gal that is cheaper and better. We will be gone for a couple of weeks and I told our lady I'll call when we get back. Do I just not call her? Do I call and tell her we've gotten someone else? Do I call and tell her we've decided we don't need a housekeeper anymore?
Off for OR on Thursday for our oldest grandson's wedding. HOW did I get this old? I have a t-shirt that says 'Inside every older person is a younger person wondering what the hell happened'. That is SOOOOO true!
Everyone have a fantabulous day!
Good luck with the wedding dress shopping on Wednesday, Carla!
It's about 10 a.m. here and I have been hit with summer Sunday doldrums. BORing!
Next Tuesday I'm going to orientation at the community college. I wonder if I'll be the only grandmother amongst the students, lol?
There's nothing going on today, just going to hang out.

Found some good buys at Kohl's yesterday -- got 4 tops that were originally $24/ea on sale for $9.60 each.....they will be going to Germany with me next month. Also ordered four new pairs of slacks...
So I am only taking 5 outfits - hoping to be able to wear everything twice. Wish I could wear jeans but just don't feel comfortable in them....too much belly fat still, and thunder thighs.
Time to get re-dressed.....took off my good top and put on an everyday one just in case I spilled something -- which I usually do!
Have a great Sunday,
Pat

Done! Your Ticker:
Hi Carla and my OFF family:
Quick check-in while at work. I was on the phone too long with my mom and brother Gary, then had lunch, finished reading the paper and then off to work. Kinda tired, tummy bothering me a bit, but here I am. I was up til after 1, then went to bed and read for awhile. We were all happy the Monroe paper made deadline last night ... everyone. Stacy came by and asked me if I was the only one who was going to ruin the perfect night ... no, I was just waiting to make fixes and I was done. So, there! I was actually done with my pages about 9:15 p.m. and let the sports editor know, and then helped out with proofing.
Good luck with the dress shopping ... I'm sure you'll find something wonderful ... you always do.
Well, off to work ... got four pages to produce, but doesn't look too bad. Then two days off. I really need to get a haircut this week.
Have a good day.
Eileen,
I don't know who Stacy is but that was a rather rude thing to say. You've done extremely well and have made your deadlines. And, see.... you were done ahead of time and then helped THEM out!! Tell her to eat dirt... well, okay.. mentally.. not verbally..you seem so happy where you are... and I'm delighted.
This job was a God-send and I couldn't be happier for you... and you know the best part? You found a Starbucks close to where you live... how could anything be more perfect?
