Wake up! It's Tuesday-what's new?
Good morning Margo and everyone!
I just got back from a walk through the neighborhood with my husband. It's been so hot and muggy we haven't been outdoors much since the end of June and I'm going bonkers. We decided if we walked before 8 we could get some exercise before it gets too nasty out. I set my alarm for 6 so I could have my coffee, constitutional and wake up a little. It worked out nicely.
Later today my daughter and I are going to college orientation. So this nana is re-orienting herself to being a college student, lol!
have a good day, everyone! Cassie

Margo & all,
I always need more coffee.
Tuesdays are much less hectic for me. I'm off to get my hair cut then hit the gym. Later water aerobics. Nice day ahead.
Tom went to Syracuse for the MRI, many other tests and to see a specialist. They no longer think he has gout. Something else is going on in his foot and leg. Naturally there was no conclusion yet. Wait and see - plus worry.
Kisses
Annette

Morning all...
another hot and humid one here too today.
I have a rogue woodpecker. Danged thing has decided to peck holes into my porch. Anyone have any ideas how to get him to go away????? I sprayed with bee spray..last night I finally sprayed him with some water from the hose over my kitchen sink. I'm trying to do some research about how to prevent any more damage.
Visiting my mom today..then water aerobics this afternoon. I NEED THE POOL.
My kids are all grown up and still they want want want. Oh well...time to fend for yourselves and leave me alone.
Have a good one everybody.

Hi Marcy,
I looked on line and some of the home-made deterrants were:
Mix hot sauce with water and spray over the area it is pecking.
Hang bright shiny objects that move in the breeze, like alum. pie tins, strips of alum. foil, used CDs. A breeze to keep them in motion is crucial.
Nail alum. flashing over the area.
Noise works too - like if you had an old (or new) motion activated halloween character with an evil laugh or a toy to hang where it is pecking.
Just a few ideas to try.

Marcy:
We've had woodpecker issues since we moved to Oregon. Have had over $4000 worth of damage to siding AND woodpeckers are a protected species here. We found that they don't like fresh paint. In one particular house, we painted the outside every 3 years and that pretty much kept them away.
All of the gimmicks we tried didn't work.
Good luck.

Hi All,
I'm here- surviving the best I can. My back is a bit better...today I'm going to do some dishes and a little counter clean up. I'm sad because all of my colleagues are back to work and I don't feel the end to my injury is in sight yet. I do have my little comfort station all set up- a reclining chair, pillow, heating pad, tv, notebook computer, and Kindle. I am losing weight well- just not eating too much. You know how back pain can make you feel queasy? That's it I guess.... enjoy your day.

Julia,
Have you asked your doctor about some physical therapy for your back? It sounds like you need some relief other than waiting for the pain to go away.
When I injured mine, the PT put me in a contraption that looked like some sort of medieval torture device. It gently pulled the upper body one way, the lower body another way, but oh boy, it helped!!
Gentle hugs
