Hi Betsy!

Gee, it's good to see  your smiling face. So far today I've had one protein shake, vitamins and pills, about 24 oz of ice water, 8 oz of cream of chicken packaged soup (loaded with salt but who cares?)

Just got out of the yard. I went to Home Depot yesterday to buy a stopper for the garage utility sink. Came out with $50.00 worth of perennials (what a sale!) and the sink stopper. So I've been out in the heat digging holes and planting today. Mike will be home on Monday. Wanted to have  them in the ground so he would feel like he had to "man up" and plant them for me.

I'm sweating like a pig (do pigs really sweat?) and doing my best to not think about food. I like my protein shakes (that will be my mantra for the next few days) so I'll have another one in about an hour. I'm alternating water with my other liquids. Also made a pan of sugar free jello. . . .

We CAN do this. . . Misery does love company so knowing that you are "in the drink" with me helps!

Don't beat yourself up over this.  We are all in the same boat.  Carbs are my downfall.  I get carried away with wheat thins and those chex mixes.  I'll confess that I haven't been drinking my water too.  I am a wrinkled mess.  I don't think I'll ever get to goal weight unless I can lick the carb monster once and for all.  Take each day one at a time.  I have gone back to journaling my food and exercise to see exactly what I'm putting in my mouth.  I find if I keep busy I do better.  Sleeping half the day hasnt hurt either since they upped my clonopin if I don't keep moving, I'm out, lol.  You can do this.  I like the cruise idea, lol.

Is clonopin also a sleep aide? Seems like my aunt mentioned it to me as I am such a restless, up every  two hours, non sleeper. I've tried several things but none of them seem to help me get restful sleep. I end up with anxiety laced nightmares and that's almost worse than insomnia!

Clonopin is an antianxiety/antiseizure med.  It's used for either.  It sure will make you sleep until you get used to taking it.  Have you tried Melatonin?  My daughter is a restless sleeper and she swears by it.

I tried Melatonin years ago and couldn't tell that it helped. However, I was told by a friend here that it needs to be taken just right before bedtime in order to work. May try it again.

Hey Karen, we all go through this. I sure can eat a lot more to feel full than I did six years ago. I have to force myself to stop. My problem is lack of exercise. I thought getting here and having a pool would help ... but it's been so friggin' hot who wants to go outside to the pool? Unless I get out there first thing in the morning ... and we all know I don't get up that early.

My big trigger is tortilla chips ... I can throw a lot of cheese on them and call it dinner. Ice cream ... not an issue. Can't eat it, except for maybe a cup. Anything more will get me very sick. So I don't bother with it. Never liked cottage cheese. Love cheese, though. Chex Mix too ... so I don't buy it. Bought some Chex Mix a while ago and binged on it ... then had the runs the next day.

I haven't tried the 5-day pouch test, but lately, I've been taking a ready-to-drink protein shake to work for dinner (one that's coffee-based ... keeps me awake). Also allows me to work through and get done in time. The protein drink does fill me up for awhile, but by the time I get home, I'm really hungry.

I know with us being so much farther out, it's more difficult. We have to stick together. Good luck to you and to all of us.

Is there any time of day that the pool is in the shade? It sure sounds refreshing to me right now. I just came in from planting several plants that I couldn't resist  yesterday at Home Depot. As a matter of fact, if i had a little kid or two around I'd use them for an excuse to run through the sprinkler! I'm feeling better just getting started at something pro-active. It says I can have as many protein shakes as I want so I may just do that!

Karen

Set up the sprinkler near the new plants and pretend it's for them.  Just keep moving it a foot or two, very slowly, every few minutes, without turning off the water. That should do the trick.  No one will even know the difference 'cept us, and we're not telling.

What do you think I've been doing many days of this heat wave?  Feels SOOOO good!

Who needs kids?

We have a sprinkler system here and I'm constantly "adjusting". Then I'll adjust whether it needs it or not today!
