Hey Girlfriends, and our brothers too, of course,

Here's a fun question to counteract the rather "downer" one from the other day:

What was the first movie you saw that you were too young to see?

My first thought was "2001, A Space Oddesy", but dang, if I saw it now I'd still be unable to understand it, so I guess it wasn't an age thing. Stanley Kubrick is just an odd duck.

So, I'm going to have to go with "The Graduate".  Twelve years old was a bit young for Mrs Robinson and Benjamin.

Well, how about you?

I can't remember that far back, lol.  I do know that when I saw the Exorsist, I had to sleep with the lights on for months and had nightmares for the longest time, lol.  I was in my early 20's then.

I asked this question at the salon yesterday and many had the same answer as yours. My girlfriend used to make her husband get up to take care of the baby at night because she was afraid her little head would be spinning!  LOL

When I was about 16 I saw "Last House on the Left" at the drive-in. It was full of sexual violence and I never forgot it.

Hi Julia,
I'd never heard of this movie so I just looked it up. No wonder you've never forgotten it!  Ick!  Anyway, it was RE-made last year. I'm sure the violence was more graphic this time around, as all movies seem to be these days.

Think I'll pass.....

I would have to say..."Five Easy Pieces" or "Easy Rider".  Both classics now..but, in the late sixties..not exactly what a 15 year old should be seeing.

My friend and I also went to see another movie, turned out to be a *****but I can't remember the name.  We got up and walked out..I think we were about 13 or 14 at the time.  They didn't check your age back then.

oh, julia, i remember that one-yes- it was awful.......

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

LOL, the very first one was Snow White!  I was somewhere around 2 or 3 I guess when my parents took me to see it.  That dragon really set me off!  I screamed and carried on so loudly my parents had to whisk me out of the theater and I had nightmares for months.  :P

You know, Cassie, what is it with Disney movies, anyway? Snow White lived with seven men. At least one of a parent dies and leaves the poor little one to fend for themselves, and the list goes on and on!  Just because something is in cartoon form doesn't necessarily mean it sends a good message!

And especially not for children!!!  I realized I made the same mistake with my own and "Beauty & the Beast".  There was a scene I didn't anticipate where Belle runs through the woods and these vicious wolves attack and Beast has to come to her rescue.  Well, my then 3 year old began whimpering when the wolves appeared and I just got up and got her out of there before she went into full freak out mode.  Nope...Disney cartoons are not for all kids...or the sensitive!
