my 1st Consult is Tuesday...!

im having my Very 1st Consult This Tuesday at My Surgeon's Office ( Dr. Charles Callery - San Diego/Poway, CA)  Yipeeeeeee!!!  ANY Advice For Me???

Hi Lillee. Congratulations. I don't have any advice as things are done very differently here in Australia. Does this mean that you have approval for your surgery by your medical insurance company?

NOPE...  they have NOT approved me YET...  this is going to be My 1st Consultation at my Surgeons Office - i dont know exactly whats going to happen and thats is why im asking for advice... someone else told me that they will give me a Long List of things that i will have to take care of during the next few months so they can Build a File on me so that When They DO Send My Paperwork to the Insurance Company i Should Get Accepted...  i hope it works for me!!!

Oh okay. Go**** is so different over here. I have what we call private health insurance and if the surgeon says I need the surgery then that's it. There are certain exclusions such as cosmetic surgery and other things, but if it is a medical condition and the surgery is regarded as necessary by the surgeon, then the insurance company pays. We may still have to see dietitians or psychologists, but that is more for a process of being in the right state of mind and body. The insurance company doesn't dictate what you have to do in order to be considered for the surgery.I can't believe the hoops you guys have to jump through in order to get your insurance company to pay out.

Sorry Lillee. Everytime I read what you guys have to go through I get quite incensed that insurance companies have that much control. We are very blessed with out system here in Australia.

Ooooh WOW!  yep!  you really are BLESSED to NOT have to jump thru the Hoops that WE over here have to jump thru!!!  our insurance companies have Sooooooo Much Control over EVERYTHING we have done...  even when it is Medically Necessary we have to PROVE IT!!!  you are very lucky in Australia...!!!
