Busy day yesterday.  Went to the biggest state fair around.  The Texas State Fair.  Arrived at 9AM and left at 5:20 PM.  On my feet most of the time.

Spent too much money.  But that's what it is for.

Got a jar of Cinnamon Honey and a jar of Peach Honey.
Greyhound Christmas Ornament
Greyhound magnetic sign for Mary's car
About a pound of candy, mostly sugarfree
Sandwich press that cuts off the crust
New vaccuum food storage system
3 sets of sheets
One BBQ sandwich
One order of Tornado Taters
One Coke (for a friend that was with us)
One Koolaid
3 slices of sugarfree fudge

Lots of exercise.  My hips are so sore.

Saw a really entertaining Bird Show.

Checked out the new cars.  Saw a Caddy Sedan for $72,000.

Then we went home and watched Survivor.   After taking a 2 hour nap, we watched a couple of DVR'd shows.   Law and Order SVU and Los Angeles.  I also watched The Good Wife from Tuesday.

So what have you been up to?

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!

Hi George and my OFF family:

I couldn't sleep. I went to bed about 1:30 a.m. and after reading for about a half hour, dozed off right away, then woke up at 3:30 a.m. hearing the cat somewhere scratching on something ... turns out she was playing with an old phone cord that was hanging down from a box in the bedroom. When I turned on the light to see her, she ran out of the bedroom. She's still scared of me. Sometimes, she'll come toward me, stretch out, sniff my fingers ... then she'll back off over into a safe place.

So I got up and had a protein bar, read for awhile. I'm reading "The Conqueror" about William the ******* ... er The Conqueror; right now he's still the ******* but he's getting there. This is historical fiction, written in 1938, but very good and very interesting. I didn't know much about him, and since I've read so much about his other relatives (Henry II, etc.), I decided I needed to know more about him. Did you know he thought of the strategy to use bowmen in the field in warfare? Before then, knights just used swords, spears and axes. The bowmen changed the way they fought. He was very smart. He planned his strategy ahead of time, didn't just go on the battlefield and wing it. I need to learn more about him. I'm just fascinated by him.

Work was kind of a pain. Our big proofer isn't working properly, so we have to use this other printer, but it's out of toner and the corporate office won't buy any, so pretty soon we won't have anywhere to proof out pages. I had a run-in with the managing editor/interim sports editor who decided to change his plan without telling me, just put it on top of a story, so I had to rip up my page, redo and then when I had it done, he said, "Oh, you could put that on 2C." I could've killed him.

I guess I just have too much on my mind and that's why I can't sleep. Plus, I'm really itchy for some reason. Hope this little kitty didn't bring in fleas. I have to get her to the vet.

Anyway, I've babbled on too long. George, I've been to the State Fair of Texas; I have a Big Tex Bobblehead and pin. I got an electric cart to scoot around in; don't know if I could have made it walking with my bad knee.

Sounds like you had a good day ... I also watched "The Good Wife" tonight; I have too much on my DVR and got to ge****ching ... it's filling up too quickly.

Have a good day everyone.

Chilly here in Southern NY..and raining.  We are under a flood watch..nothing new for my area.  We are under flood watches most of the year, just about everytime it rains.  We can get some really bad flooding.
I'm so happy today..its payday.  I teach school and finally we are back to getting regular pay checks..THANK GOD!  I have meetings today, then I'm off to the gym to work out and we have water aerobics.
Eileen,  Juliette will come around.  I know the last kitten I got , she hid for a week or more.  Eventually she got lonely and crawled into my lap! Juliette will get there, she is still just uncertain.
George, sounds like a good time yesterday!  My knees hurt just reading about it.
Have a good day everyone..keep smiling.

Saw the doc yesterday and she gave me a sample of Savella for fibromyalgia sx.  Anybody tried it?  I put a call into my shrink to make sure it's ok to take with the high dose of Zoloft I'm also on.  Haven't heard back yet.  Says could cause an overload of serotonin in the system if taken with other sri's.  I hope  I can take it and it helps.  I' m tired of hurting all the time.  No plans for today.  I've been trying to crochet a new cloth rug for my kitchen but I'm having an awful time keeping up with my stitches with the memory problems I am experiencing too.  My  hubby told me he saw some kind of stitch counters at walmart the other day.  I'll check them out the next time I work  up the nerve to make the trip down there with my hubby.  Maybe this weekend.  Y'all have a good day.

Good mornin', ya'll.

George, I used to love going to our county and state fairs in OR. So much fun watching all the people, eating too much and spending too much money. Gotta stimulate the economy, ya know.

Eileen, your new furbaby will come to trust and love you. She is lucky to have found such a loving home. I hope things at work get a lot better for you. Just smile, and keep your head down!

Well, it is still raining here. We have a couple of hours of light or no rain, then it comes back in a downpour. Since Monday we have had about 15" in J-ville.  Another 6 is expected. If anyone walked into my backyard they would sink in up to their ankles at least. It can stop now!

I have an appointment to get my medi-port flushed this AM and then PT. I'll probably have 30  to 45 min or so between them. Not enough time to come home really, since they are both on the other side of town from my house. Whatever will I do?!?! Let's see. Michaels is over there and so is Han**** Fabric. I don't think I'll have time to hit both of them. I also need a Pedicure before I head to FL on Monday. Some of that will have to wait until after PT. The question is, do I want to get in and out of my car in all this rain?

My recycle stuff is on the street waiting to be picked up, but, of course, it is now all soaked. They are usually here about 6 AM and I didn't put it out til 5:30, but they still aren't here.

I better get a wiggle on. I need to actually wear shoes since my birkenstocks don't like puddles!! So I gotta dig out some socks and my non-gym tennies.

Everyone have a fantabulous day.

Good Morning George and Friends,

Ah, fond memories of Big Tex. That fair is absolute;y awesome. I'm online this morning in Port Townsend, Washington on the Olympic Penninsula. Mike and I are on a little mini vacation seeing one  scenic area of Washington that we hadn't been to before.

We dropped Erin and the girls off at home on Tuesday afternoon, drove about 40 miles to a little town called Shelton. Spent the night there and then hit the road early yesterday morning. Drove to Port Angeles, WA, stopped at the Olympic National Park visitors center and got Mike an Access Pass. Anyone on disability qualifies for FREE entrance into National Parks and many other state and federal parks. Saved us $10.00 right then. It's a lifetime pass. Cool!

A bit of fog that burned off quickly and as we drove up to view Hurricane Ridge it was all bright blue skies and about 70 degrees. Absolutely stunning views of Mt. Olympus (Washington's one!) and the other peaks in the area. We were up about 5000 feet at the visitor's center. Then a leisurely drive alone highway 101 to Port Townsend and Fort Worden. Fort Worden is where "An Officer and a Gentleman" was filmed. Fun to see the setting!

Checked into a cute motel right on the harbor with views of the sailboats and ships coming and going. Had dinner in a harborside cafe; wonderful clam chowder.

Then we saw "Get Low" with Robert Duvall in a historic theatre called The Rose. Home and in bed by 10pm. A late night for me. We both really enjoyed the movie.

Today we'll take the ferry to Whidby Island, drive up island and off at Deception Pass which is incredibly beautiful, then down to my older brother's home in Marysville to spend the night with them. Tomorrow we'll visit a nephew and then spend the night with our son in Seattle. Probably back down to surprise Erin and family on Saturday and then home on Sunday. We just saw them but didn't get to see our son in law or the progress on the new house. It's a couple of hours out of our way, but as you know we'll do anything to see those babies. The twins are a bundle of energy and so much fun to take to the park and baby Briley is all smiles and snuggles!

I'll get my shower and get out with Maggie for a walk on the beach in front of the motel. Mostly oyster shells around here, but I love walking along the beach. Have a great day everyone.
