It's Friday October 1st- What's New?

Good Morning!
I went to bed quite early (my back was very "tired") and just woke up... and it's Friday! I had a busy day. I went to see my doctor to talk about disability and options for getting me back to work. He prescribed a light-weight wheelchair for times when I needed to go distances and started the process for shots for the injured vertabrae. He said he would have recommended that sooner if they weren't ruling out cancer. I think the shot will HURT... I'll ask questions when I see the pain doctor.
Tomorrow my husband and I are driving to Lake Tahoe for the weekend. We are staying in a timeshare with my brother-in-law and sister-in-law. They invite us frequently- we pay for the extra room. I wish I already had the wheelchair. It would be helpful for walks that we usually take. I'll just have to be driven to the casino- :)  It will work!
I hope that you are all not getting too cold yet. California is still HOT! I think that we will start cooling off soon though. I'm sure my cool is nothing like some of your cools.
That's it for me right now- I'm still basking in my non-cancer state! I was a little freaked out by that little journey!

julia; i would volunteer to push you in your chair  if we were ever to vacation together! enjoy your weekend and spend a dollar at the casino for me?!

my friday at work is always busier and today being the first of the month makes it more so-i love it that way!!! it will be good to get back into my own window at work--i enjoyed my day at baldwin but always nice to get into my "own" stuff.....

last nite; i gave up painting the living room wall when the lite got dim outside- and i'm glad- i'll fini**** tomorrow after work , then tile the floor and start to get things back in shape....i hate the mess but it's MY MESS!!!!

got a very strange email from michael--i really think his depression is getting worse instead of better- wait til he gets the letter i mailed yesterday- whoa- probly put him over the edge....i can't feel guilty- i had to get "me" back ....

i'm looking for a cute jeans jacket and found one at cold creek- ouch way too many $$$$---

well- need to find some protein for breakfast and get myself dressed- did i tell you i fit back into my 14 jeans??? that's a GOOD thing for me cuz i had worked up to too tight! it's all coming together- finding ME! cuz it is after all, all about ME!!!

Hi Julia and Margo, and to those yet to post.

Julia sorry to hear about your back.   I hope they can control the pain for you.  I just started physical therapy for my back....OUCHIE!  I never knew I could stretch or be pushed around like that before..lol  I told the girl I felt like a ball of bread dough.

Not too much new here.  Have been busy everyday, going to PT twice a week seems like it is really my days go fast.

I have been placed on Neurontin and Flexiril.  Anyone take these and gain weight from them?  I read that both have the capability of weight gain.  Now I am trying to chose, pain or gain...Always something.  

The weather has been sort of chilly and damp.  What I wouldn't give for HOT again.

My husband and I are planning to go to Florida in November.  Hear that Carla?  Hope we can meet up again.  Maybe you and your husband can come stay at the condo for a night?   That would be fun!

Hey Mary and everyone,
I scored at the thrift shop yesterday. I got 5 pairs of nice pants for 90 cents a piece and they are name brand!!!!!!!
I love the Chicago Junk shops!!!!!!!
Last night we went restaurant hopping. Met my neice and her little boy for soup then took my other neice out with our daughter for a late sandwich. I only had coffee!!!!!
Today we are going to just hang out and drive around/ Tomorrow morning I am going to see Brenda and cut her hair.
]I have a new do!!!!! I look 20 years younger with some color in my mousy hair!!!!!
Mary I will be around in November!!!!! But on the 14th to the 18th I am flying to Denver to have a hen party with my friends there and to see my neurologist about my migraine headaches.
Well on with my day.

Mary, I don't know if Neurontin causes weight gain ... some people talked about it making them stupid or forgetful. Well, I don't know ... I don't remember.

Anyway, I have been on it for a couple of years to help with the nerve damage and pain in my back. I have found it helps a lot ... it helps me sleep. I have gained weight since being on it, but I don't think that's the reason. I've gained more weight because of the antidepressants ... basically they stimulate your appetite is what my psychologist told me. Didn't really need that, but they helped my attitude a lot, my mood. I really need to get back on them because I need to mellow out again. I get really angry without them.

Hey, if you're driving down south, make a side trip and come to Louisiana. Would love to meet ya.

Thanks for some info on the pills.  I also read they can make you gain weight.  When I tried them for a week.  I was eating anything that didn't move.   I stopped taking them for three days now and I lost that need to eat.  Ugh...psychological?   I dunno.

Hey would love to meet you.  I wonder how far LA is from Ft Meyers, or can I make a trip on the way down..lol  I am not a good person with directions.  Spin me in a circle and I need a Compass..lol

I met Carla in July in Florida... that was so much fun!

Rain kept coming and our sump pump is working hard. Better than having a swimming pool in the basement.

I really need to go for my bloodwork this morning. Needles make me kind of faint. Tom says I am a wus. After all these years, he just figured that out?

Julia - you're just on the move all the time now. That is wonderful. Did you know that there are many medical supply places that rent wheelchairs? You might want to look into that.

Margo - yoohoo!!  It must feel good to be thinking of YOU. And being able to really fit into those jeans is great. I imagine Michael will continue to try to pull your chain (or your heart strings). But it sounds like you are determined!! You go girl!!

Mary - I have never taken Neurontin but my Dad did and so did my DH. It made BOTH of them stupid!!! I am serious. After a week I swear they were forgetting very important things!! Both information and skills they had. When we moved to NC our new Dr prescribed a drug for my DH for his diabetes neuropothy. Again he started with the same dumb stuff. We read a little closer and it was the generic form of neurontin. I really don't know about the weight but be sure someone is paying attention to your mental state. Before you drive 50 miles out of your way and forget where you were going (my Dad), or have trouble checking the oil in the car cause you can't find the dipstick (my DH). Those are just 2 of the things that they experienced!

The rain has stopped for awhile here. GMA mentioned Jacksonville, NC this morning. We got 15" of rain in about 24 hours. Now we all have to wait for all tha****er to find a place to go! The power was out in lots of areas of the city yesterday. Cops directing traffic, stores closed. My PT place had a back-up generator so they were able to do business. Schools closed yesterday and again today because of flooded streets and flooded buildings. More rain coming tomorrow.

I experienced the same symptoms with neurontin....plus it made me depressed and I felt like a zombie!!!  Could barely put one foot ahead of the other.  I stopped taking it cold turkey, then found out you are supposed to wean off of it....oh well, it didn't kill me!

Friday and the first day of October -- where or where did Sept. go?  Looking forward to the lovely fall colors.  Tonite is homecoming here in Sturgis -- temps were in the high 30's this morning so it's gonna be pretty chilly at the festivities.  I am less than a block from the high school, so I will hear all the goings on.

Today is my son and dil's 16th wedding anniversary....how time flies.  She is doing well with her shots for the MS...so far so good.

Off to work now, cleaning angel comes today, and on Sunday we are traveling to Frankfort, Ind. for my oldest brother's 50th anniversary party.
