Sunday Morning
Hi Everyone. All is well for me. Had a big day yesterday. Drove from the Sunshine Coast where I live down to the Gold Coast (2.5 hrs) as my niece from the state of South Australia was playing in a women's soccer competition. I was really upset because I couldn't go. They had made it to the grand final. So I thought, bugger it, i am going to go and take it easy.
We did. I so thought i had done the wrong thing. We had gone from overcast weather to pouring rain. We had to walk through mud because they had had so much rain down there. Wettest September in 100 yrs (of course)! So here I am, sitting in my chair huddled under a golf umbrella.
The game was fantastic. The teams were U/15's and ours looked positively scrawny compared to the New Zealand team. Found out afterwards that most of the NZ team consisted of national reps whereas my nieces team was just a club team. They were 1-1 until there was a corner shot down nz end. I think our girl actually scored their 2nd goal.
It was a brilliant game and so good to see young girls out there really focussed on what they were doing. I cracked up at one point during the game. As you can imagine the soccer was really heavy and hard. One of our girls did a header and landed on her bum but then when she got herself up she saw her hands had mud on them. Instead of just wiping them she had a look of absolute horror of having mud on her hands. You have picture this to see the funny side. The transformation of the sportsgirl to 15 year old teenager. Maybe it is just my quirky sense of humour.
Anyway, the rain eventually eased. Girls were disappointed. When we were leaving my niece and i were cuddling each other when an official from the other team came up to speak with my niece. He said it was his role to watch the other team and allocate players, etc. He said they had put their best player on her and my niece still managed to score a goal against here and that he is looking forward to seeing her in the green and gold (Australian colours) in a few years. Well I was so proud of her. I could tell she was still disappointed about their loss so I told her that what that official had told here is worth more to her personally than winning as a team. How good was it to know that their team was so threatened by you as a player. That is a huge, huge compliment. You are not always going to win in a team game. You go out there to do it but it is not achievable. But you can always be as good as you can be and that will always be acknowledged. She was so proud after that.
The drive home was long. The rain was intense but when we got to about 30 minutes from home it lightened to a drizzle.
Ah, home, good nights sleep and now it's Sunday

good morning!
jules; it sounds like you had a wonderful day-my sons played soccer and they learned a great deal from some of the officials!
dogs and i got all cuddled in for a long nite's sleep when the phone started ...and the machine did not kick in--it was my michael--we talked for 20 minutes- i listened mostly-he got the divorce papers yesterday in the mail....so at midnite, i tried getting back to sleep---finally cuddled in snug with both of the dogs and we slept like babies!
today is book case assembly day....hoping to get the living room straightened at least a little bit!
i need to buy b12--i'm having trouble focusing on what to do next-kindof an ADD weekend!
roxie is cuddled into my arm and i'm glad she's comfy- i'm not!and it's brrrrrrrrr cold here-heat kicked on during the nite....
so- off for more coffee and some protein before mom comes down for a "break"
hugs and prayers.............

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

Jules, it sounds like you're doing really well! I'm so happy for you. Keep up the good work and you'll certainly be rewarded!
Did I ever tell you my Grandfather was from New South Wales? Wish I could come and visit someday, it's on my bucket list.
Had a bit of a WOW moment this morning. They come so seldom now that I'm four years out. It's going to be in the high 60's today so I decided to wear a pair of corduroy pants that I've had for three winters. They still fit!!!! So amazing.
Hope everyone has a Jim Dandy day!!!

Hi Jules and my OFF family:
Sounds like you had a blast. I would love to go to Australia some day but don't think I could handle the plane ride ... too long for my knee and back. I have problems just sitting for eight hours at work. I also want to go to Europe (England, Germany, etc.) I've been reading so many books about English history, I'd love to visit some of these places, and I have German ancestry. But money is keeping me from that right now. It's why I keep working.
I've been in so much pain and itching agony the past two days. I had to go out and get some Benadryl (or the Walgreens version) yesterday, plus a couple kinds of itch creams. Later at work, someone was talking about Boudreaux's Butt Paste ... it's something for diaper rash but one guy said it's also good for poison ivy and other itchiness. Well, if this continues and the doctor can't do anything, maybe I'll try it!
Our executive editor and her husband brought in lasagna, garlic bread and salad because it was an election night here last night (I've figured out it's an election night just about every weekend here in Louisiana). Her hubby also made this really good sausage/bell pepper quiche. Well, somehow after I had my small portion (I also had a little salad) and I couldn't finish everything, I was sitting at my desk and I had to make a quick dash to the bathroom ... had a massive bowel movement. Later, had another smaller one. I felt lousy the rest of the night, but finished out my shift ... and I had to help out after doing my sports pages to finish out with the election stuff. I was feeling like I was going to throw up. Plus, I was getting itchy again. I was really happy to get back home, have some peppermint tea and settle down my tummy. Don't know what ticked it off. It was too soon after the lasagna for that to be the reason, and all I had for lunch was a Lean Cuisine. I think I'm having withdrawal symptoms from the Lexapro. I go to the doctor finally on Tuesday. Finally I have insurance... I was able to refill my migraine preventive for $15 (when I tried to refill it at first it came up as $782 ... Yikes!)
Well, it will be another day at work this afternoon. I'm so tired ... I slept last night ... with Juliette in bed, sometimes snuggling next to me, sometimes purring. She's getting friendlier. I got up a lot but at least I slept seven hours.
Have a good day. Go Bears!
