Your DIL must not have gotten senimental gifts when she was young or she would appreciate them more.  I have not made my grands quilts yet but I did buy the softest baby blanket for Charlie when he was born.  He is five years old and still won't sleep without it.  Of course it is too small but he tucks it under his chin and covers with something else.

It is a good idea to make something to give them when they are older.  My grands have way too much stuff.  So instead of giving them things I put money in a college fund.  If your gifts are unappreciated you might consider something similar.  I get them something small (cheap) so they have something to open but their gift goes in the bank.

Hey, Linda, my Texas Sistah...

Haven't seen you in eons. We need to get together and have some good old-fashioned girl time.

Don't think I'm going to make the OH convention. They've already put people in a bunch of different hotels.  I might post and see who is in the main hotel and see if they have 'floor' space. Might be worth a drive down.  Don't know if there will be any 'new' information and I've already got one of those gawd-awful body suit we bought.  The 7 lbs I gained has pretty much rendered it un-useable.

Hope to see you soon...:) Let me know when you are coming through Dallas.

Debbie,

So nice to see your face and have you start the post. . .I used to crochet when I rode the bus into Manhattan to work (2 hours each way every workday), but now I have almost no time to sit still and do it, last thing I made was a baby blanket, have some wool, maybe I'll start doing that again at lunchtime. . .  I made a beautiful afgan for a friend of mine for her birthday a number of years ago, she still tells me how much she loves it, took me about 3 or 4 months. . .

I was up real late last nigh****ching the Jets/Vikings game, what a game, Jets dominated the first half, though the defense of the Vikings kept them from really being able to get a touchdown and then after halftime, I was on the edge of my seat, but Farve being Farve, fumbled and threw the game deciding touchdown in the last 2 minutes of the game, I was up until almost 1 a.m., there were bad thunder storms here last night which delayed the game 40 minutes, but in the end it was sooooo worth it. . .

Anyway, today I am here at work, nothing too much going on, looking forward to the next two days passing, as I am off on Thr and Fri of this week to visit with some friends.

Well folks, I am back to work and wishing each and everyone of you a wonderful day, as well as the peace and strength to get through anything else that life hits you with.

Hi Debbie and my OFF family:

Started this morning off with a call from a therapist I called yesterday. Got his number off the insurance website. I asked the insurance person 2-3 times that if the person was on the website, that meant they were in network, right? Right. So I called the guy, gave them my insurance stuff. Today, they called me back and told me they weren't in my network. What the hell! Then how are they on the network website? And the woman I talked was a little confused, because she said they just billed United Healthcare and got reimbursed, so she didn't understand that either. So I'm not sure who's in network now.

And let me tell you, even if they're in network, therapy is not going to be cheap ... specialists on this insurance will cost me $50 copay per visit. I have to really appreciate my old insurance ... it was really good. This isn't as good.

I got some news from my old workplace: the computer guy who was such a jerk was laid off/fired ... we're not sure which. Turns out he had done a lot of stuff that made him un-firable ... not a word, but you get the idea. He had made templates and such for programs and then there would be problems and only he knew how to fix them, no one else, not even the other person he worked with. Well, the person who ran the web desk decided that wasn't very good (Meegan is a good woman) and put an end to that. As one person said, there were no tears shed over his firing/layoff. But the IT people were scrambling ... he had had surgery and came back and was told he was outta there; the IT people had to make sure he couldn't get back in the system through the modems and sabotage the system somehow.

Not much else going on in my world. I didn't go out at all yesterday; don't plan on much today. Laundry at least. My back and knee hurt; it looks like rain, but we haven't had any for so long. At least I slept well last night.

Anyway, have a good day. Still waiting for grandnephew's appearance. He's late, but he'll show up in his own good time.

I think it is so sad that homemade treasures are not appreciated. My grandmother made many beautiful things for my kids. After my kids wore them I put them away until my kids were married, and then MY grandchildren wore them. That was something made by their great great grandmother. We have pictures of our kids in some of them, and then pictures of my grandkids in the same outfits. Those kinds of memories are so meaningful. My daughter and DIL have all the stuff put away I made for their kids, plus the stuff from Grandma. I am now making things for my great grandchildren, just in case my arthritis gets so bad I can't crochet anymore. My daughter and DIL suggested it and I love to crochet, so it gives me a reason. Of course, we also never know if/when this cancer will come back, so I want to get as much done as I can.

Grammylew,
I could just cry that I gave my son all his photo albums too.  When I went up there and looked at some pictures, they were no longer in the albums.  A lot were missing and the others looked water damaged.  I also gave him the knitted baby snowsuit that my MIL made for him.  I haven't seen that either or his first shoes for walking in.  Some is his responsibility but I know that *****esn't care about his stuff either.  Oh well, it's been a hard lesson to learn.  Nothing else will be given to them now.  And I'm trying to rebuild what was lost through the extra pictures I had in boxes and scans that I did of some of the pictures.  I don't have any of the pictures from when he was first born.
Anything hand made will be put away with notes to the grandchildren.  I think they will appreciate it more.
Thanks,
Bev
