What's happening Thursday from our nation's second capitol!
Good morning Friends,
I'm in the middle of a road trip. I'm currently in Washington, DC. Haven't been here before and despite the traffic I'm loving it. The National Mall area and even the route to it seems clean, friendly, and navigable even for a country greenhorn like me.
Managed to take the bus, change buses, and arrive at my destination with no complications. I'm staying at a wonderful little hostel/b and b run by the Mennonite church. It's called the International Guest House and is located on a bus line just 4 miles from the White House in a direct line.
However, it look over one hour to get there as I went with work traffic. Today I'll sleep in and enjoy the wonderful breakfast. Maybe the ride won't be as long.
I must have walked at least 4 miles yesterday seeing many museums and enjoying all of the history in the area. I'll do more of the same today, but will have to pick and choose carefully as I leave tomorrow heading for Gettysburg, PA and 4 days of Quaker genealogy research.
While I've been away from home our son proposed to his Kristin. We fell in love with her instantly 3 years ago so we are absolutely delighted to finally have her officially join our family. They make the cutest couple. Both are tall redheads.
Need to get a bit more sleep so I have some energy for another busy day. Looking for Lewis and Clark artifacts. Thought for sure I'd see some in the American History Museum as everything I read said that's where things were stored. But, no luck. Anyone else have any ideas about them? I'd love to see some of the journals and a peace medal that they handed out along their way.
Today Ford's Theatre, all of the outside memorials, art museums and the Native American Museum, plus the Holocaust Museum. Don't know how much of that one I can handle but I think I should go. Back to bed. Looking forward to reading about what's going on in your world.

FINALLLLLLLLLLY, our re-fi papers have been signed, so now all I have to do is wait for the funding to be completed so I can make the appointment for my plastics. It won't be until January, as we're coming up the the busy time of the year at the salon (Lord, how can I be any busier???) and after the Holidays it gets really slow.
Speaking of the salon, for those of you who have helped me sort out the recent problems I've been having there, it's starting to get sorted out, slowly but surely. I found out the new girl actually used my products and equipment while I was gone last weekend, without my permission, and after my co-worker told her not to. Vickie, the owner was really angry when she found out, so steps are being made for me to have exclusive rights for the existing nail table with a new one for the part timers to share.
Don't know what I'm going to do today on my day off, but whatever it is, it will include thinking about all of you!
Hugs
Susan

I'm a little late getting on here. Spent a little time applying for jobs; got aggravated/irritated by one site that I tried uploading my resume to and kept getting sent back to the beginning. Yes, I'm applying again; got irritated by one of the sports writers last night ... I was done and on time and then she was miffed that I forgot a breakout box (a wire story that had little to do with her story but she HAD to have it in) so she opened the pages and redid everything to get it in. So that made us late. Foolish! I could see if it was something really important, that it made sense to put it with the story, then redo the page. So that made us late, and reflects on me, not her. She's in charge back there now because the interim sports editor/managing editor is out of town because his father-in-law is most likely dying.
Anyway, I was told I would do some sports, and all I'm doing is sports, and I hate it, just hate it. And it seems like everything I do is wrong. I can't make deadlines ... of course, I have no help because the reporters can't make deadlines.
Oh well, enough whining. Karen, I know there are Lewis & Clark artifacts at Monticello but I would think there are some at the Smithsonian museums too. I have been in D.C. and saw some of the memorials and tried to get through the museums, but it was when I was 350 pounds and just couldn't do a whole lot. Enjoyed it, but it was hard on me ... it would be hard on me now too because my knee doesn't like to do a lot. Gettysburg is really interesting ... my brother and I didn't get to see everything there in one day.
I need to get in the shower and get some lunch. Have a good day.
