Morning Margo and others. I am on my second cup of coffee, and sober 46 days and counting.
Today going to a new Catholic church for us. Did not enjoy the services here at campground. I am excited about going. So glad we have internet services here to "find" all the places we need too.
We had lots of rain here yesterday, badly needed for sure. Hubby is still hurting with his lower back. Wish I be more help, but he is stubborn and carries on.
Meeting with Carla tomorrow for a Girls day. Very excited for this to happen.
Prayers to all, safe travels to those who are on the road, special thoughts to those with medical issues.
Huts and Merry Christmas, Monica

Oh, such a difference here with people wishing us Merry Christmas, not at all like in the northeast.

Oh, Margo...

I'll ramble.

Relatively good week at work last week. I took the day off Friday to Christmas shop and didn't get it done. Saturday was Becky day and while she was here, I baked cookies. I ate six and I'm really mad at myself. Thought I had quit getting mad when I had my rny.. but noooooooooo. Then dressed and went out again after Becky left. Didn't get a thing but did go by and visit some friends from 1969. Hadn't seen them in awhile. It's always a 'grounding' for me.

Today is $4.. I'll take some cookies if I can find that darned cookie tin I've stuck somewhere. Then I'm going to the Outlet in Allen. It's got GREAT outlets.. Coach is one. They have 50% off and give you another 20%. It's appease DIL time.... gotta do it. Keep the peace..:) I'm still trying to find a size 7 white turtle neck shell for my Granddaughter. Sheesh, she's HARD and easy to shop for. Grammy just has a thing in her head and puts me on a mission.

I got toilet paper for my son. Oh, and a $150 gift certificate to go with it. He needs a new toilet.

Will likely be the last Christmas I spend like this. This is the remnants of my win at WinStar. If I go back, I won't have the money for Christmas presents.

It's going to be cold today, I think.. well, okay.. in the 50's.. and apparently going to be in the 70's for ONE day before we get back to the 40's and 50's. TEXAS!!! BAH HUMBUG!!

Hoping to bake some tonight. I've got some great quick breads from William Sonoma. Maple Pecan, Gingerbread, and Pumpkins Spice. And I've got all the 'butters' from there to go with them. Expensive you say? Nay, nay. Got them on the clearance rack... paid $1.99 for the mixes, and $.99 for the butters. Checked the expirations (got them after Christmas last year and held them). I'll the be the 'family champ' this year for goodies. Regular price would have cost me $60 for all three... but got them for $9.. love a good sale.

Well, to the shower for me. Then to $4.. for that great caffeine kick.

Everyone have a good day. Hugs to those that need'em.

Good Morning Margo and OFF! Monica, so proud of day 46!  You go girl!
Got teary eyed watching the Kelsy Grammer version of Christmas Carol last night.  I wanted a new life and new opportunities and I got them.  I will survive!  We are all suvivors aren't we?  I think I miss my son most of all even though we didn't see each other that much, I really miss him.  followed by parents, family and friends. I have new friends here and will continue making friends I am sure.  have all the makings for Christmas meal.  Need to make some buckeyes today after cleaning, want to finish up some soup and cook some breaded porkchops later today too.  doubt I will get everything done, but who knows?  one of the ladies from work is giving me her old dryer.  my friend Carol's son Isaiah is going to pick it up and bring it over today and get it hooked up for me.  Tomorrow my new washer gets delivered and I already have about 4 loads to do!  Isaiah is also going to hang some curtain rods for me, I got a pair of drapes at WalMart yesterday for the living room so need to get them hung.  have some sheers for my bedroom too.  Then I need to make some curtains for the other windows.  Just will do rod pockets.  Time for breaky now!  Got  long winded as usual!  Take care and have a great day!

Good morning, ya'll.
I don't drink coffee, but I do have to have my fat free hot chocolate every morning. Monica, so proud of you! I know you will continue your success! Janet - gotta love those outlet stores! I have many very nice Coach pieces from the outlet store in OR. But my favorite outlet store is stll Harry and David!
The neighborhood Christmas party last night was well attended. We didn't stay very long. We don't party much. But I'm sure my BLT eaters will be late today because of the party. That's OK. I'm always ready.
Got an e-mail from someone wanting 3 of my dog beds. She'll be over today to get them. Woo hoo! I have more strips cut to make more chew toys, I think I'll do that this morning after my shower. I'm still working on a crochet baby sweater to go with the blanket I made awhile ago.
We are warming up here. Warm enough for rain I don't like to see! Everyone is out of school for the year, so if it turns icey they won't have to drive in it. Our son would still have to go to work. The Marines NEVER get a snow day. But he only works a mile away.
Everyone have a fantabulous day!

Hi Margo and my OFF family:

Had to retreat to the bedroom and the computer. Mom has the TV on so loud I can't hear anything. I couldn't even hear what she was saying. I'm going to go deaf before I leave here tomorrow.

Now, I love my mom but she drives me crazy. Poor Gary ...his bp is going up. I swear I would kill her if I lived her with her. Lucky I don't. She'd be dead and I'd be in prison. We are too alike (although I'm a slob and know it, and she pretends she's neat but she's as much of a slob as I am ... she likes to think she's like her mother). I know she's disappointed in me and my life choices, but I can't help how she feels ... I've discussed that in therapy, and I'm OK with it. I can't change how people feel about me. I am who I am.

Anyway, I had a nice lunch/brunch with Paulette and Earl yesterday ... the restaurant in Franklin Park was very nice. It used to be called Four Seasons and was very nice what we in the Chicago area call a "Greek" restaurant (although not really Greek food, although they have gyros and Greek chicken ... they are run by Greeks and have basic food and a few Greek items but the food is good and inexpensive and you get a lot for your money). It's now called Crystal Fountain and owned by the former owners of the Four Seasons. The place is gorgeous and food wonderful. I had this huge omelet, of which I only ate half, along with two huge multigrain pancakes (of which I only ate a third ... but they were so yummy!). Paulette (she used to be on the board a lot) had chicken dumpling soup, which she said was really good, and a burger; Earl had a Mexican omelet, which came served in a taco salad shell ... kinda strange but he said it was good.

Later, I came home and in the evening, my brother and I went out to finish up some shopping for mom and then went to a Chinese restaurant across the street from the Crystal Fountain ... small but clean, lots of food for the price. For $7 we had an entree each, soup, fried rice and an egg roll, plus two cookies each. I didn't finish mine, but later started feeling like I was going to throw up. Had to drink some tea to get stuff to stay down.

So today is the annual Briesch family Christmas party ... we're hoping my sister got the message about no Jimmy John's (they are being investigated for salmonella poisoning ... and we all hate Jimmy John's sandwiches ... much better sandwich shops to get food from ... my sister is so cheap and lazy about getting food but she insists she wants to have this party every year and then she shoos us out of there really quickly).

Anyway, then tomorrow it's back to Monroe ... long day's drive. Probably won't talk much. Have a good day.

Eileen

My hubby and I usually watch football on Sunday afternoons in our bedroom.  More often that not I fall asleep and he worries about waking me with the TV.  He had a set of earphones that he would use but then I would trip over the cable and I told him the TV didn't bother me but the dang cord did.  He recently found a wireless set.  The little transister or whatever it is called sits near the TV and the earphones store on it.  When he wants to use it he takes the earphones off the stand and I don't have to hear it.  Something like that might save Gary's sanity.  There are also lots of amplifiers worn in the ear that I see advertised on TV all the time.  That would allow the TV to be on a lower volumne and your mom would still be able to hear it.  If they work.   I think I would investigate a solution in this situation.  Even if sanity was not an issue hearing loss would be.  Gary's hearing will be damaged it the noise level is so high all the time.

Good luck
