Here I am on my sixth consecutive day of eleven at my full time job.  A lot to get used to now.  We used to get paid every other Friday.  Now we get paid every Tuesday.  Who gets paid on Tuesday?  That is going to be a challenge.  Except my part time job pays every Thursday.  So that means two checks a week, every week.

Looking forward to Thursday now.

Been reading a few books on my Nook.  Finished two last week.  Mysteries by no-name authors.  Offered free by Barnes and Noble, so I could not pass them up.  Most of the books I have were $2.99 or less, with the majority of them being FREE.

Mary already texted me and asked me to stop at Starbucks and get her a slice of pumpkin bread.  Then I will go home and sleep for a while.

Yesterday, I got home from work at 8:15 AM.  Went right to bed and woke up in time to watch the Rose Bowl.  Yay TCU!!!

Mary even served me breakfast in bed so I did not have to leave the game.  Gotta love that gal.

All for me for now.  Later.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!

Good Morning George and OFF!
Sunday morning, up early and watching a knit/crochet show.  Not a whole lot going on today, may screw my courage up and try going to a church here in Vt.  Surprisingly there are no Lutheran churches with in 50 miles of here!
New job is going well, my little house is coming along too!  Yesterday I took the dogs for a nice long walk, dropped Daphne off after the first half and took Angus for a longer, faster walk.  They both enjoyed it, and I got a little exercise in too and was able to look around this wonderful neighborhood!  Lots of older homes, saw one built in 1862 that is a B&B.  It's raining this morning, and tomorrow it will get cold again.  Lot's of our snow has melted and looks dirty now.  It was so pretty! I imagine this is an early January thaw and more snow and cold will be coming!
Hope you all have a great Sunday!

Debbie,

Thanks for the wonderful description of your walk. Vermont is on my bucket list. I bet it  is winter beautiful but I  think I'd like to see it in early October first! Isn't a walk a wonderful way to see the neighborhood? Driving by just give you the chance to take it all in.

Are you meeting any of your neighbors? I'm so happy that this move is working out so well for you. You have such a great can do attitude that I'm sure that has a lot to do with it. You see it as an adventure, a new chapter, and can't wait to see what is on the next pages. Good for you!

Oh drum roll please, day 60 and loving it!!
Did very little yesterday, so over tired. Hubby recovering too.
Carla called about my $7 dress from Target.... she had to work last night, but she is good.
Have no plans other than Church later this morning.
While shopping on Friday, hubby stopped into a pet store. The puppies touched his heart and soul. Maybe we are ready for a new dog. Don't want a puppy but want to rescue an older dog. I admitted that I check the rescue and local pound almost daily online. I posted a picture and message on facebook on Friday too, Diablo was so special to us and those he met. I am thankful he was a part of our lives for 14 years, such love and joy he gave.
Go Giants......thou they don't deserve to win the way they have been playing.

Hi Monica;   When we were looking for a new dog I tried and tried to get a rescue dog.  When you fill in the application form and they see your age they don't even bother answering. I tried all over.  We decided on a new puppy  He is now 3 years old  chihuahua brown short hair 3 1/2 lbs. He is the sweetest little guy you ever seen and boy is he smart and we spoil him. My husband and I love him to death.   It took us nearly a year after we lost our other one to decide on a new one.  You will know when you are ready. Oh yeah his name is Pablo, the one that passed was Ricky-Rue. Hope this helps you to make your decision.    Doris QC.

Monica, that is wonderful!  You know I volunteered with a rescue for 5 or so years, and have a fondness for rescuted dogs myself!  Remember when you adopt a rescued dog, many of them have "histories".  My Angus is a prime example.  He was beaten, abused, neglected, had heartworm and was a mess when PPI got him into the program.  He will never be an outgoing dog, but is so much better now!  Daphne on the other hand is friendly, outgoing and just an all around nice dog. I have seen many many dogs go to homes in which the adoptors were much older then we are.  Some of my foster dogs have been adopted by seniors.  The only thing we do ask is to make sure that someone will take care of the dog if/when the need occurs. If family can't do it, we always take the dog back ALWAYS.  Many rescues do the same thing, especially the reputable ones.  That being said, I have heard of some rescuers that never get back to people one way or the other.  Unfortunately you have to depend on people doing what they are supposed to do.  As you know, it doesn't always happen.  Very unfortunate that the volunteers don't get back with potential adoptors when the dog could be going to a wonderful home! Remember too, that many times they try to match the dog up with potential adoptors. at PPI we always say its about the DOG!  LOL
Just my 2 cents worth!
Good luck!

I was very disapointed when no one answered me.We live in Canada and we were willing to travel to the USA to pick up a rescue.  We are so happy with our little guy I wouldn't trade him for the world. Thanks for your input much appreciated.   I would consider trying again.  Doris QC.

Good morning George and Debbie and all the future OFF visitors.
I was a little sad this morning as I changed over my calanders (putting in birthdays of family), and adding names and addresses to my diary. Many loved ones no longer on there. My parents again, but also 2 uncles, 2 aunts, a cousin. So many lost in the last year or so.
My DIL saw a friends mom crochetting infinity scarves (in my day jusy called a cowl). So yesterday afternoon we looked for patterns online, didn't find exactly what she wanted. The lady who was doing them was golfing all afternoon, so today she will get that pattern from her. We did go to Michaels for yarn and today I'm gonna teach her to crochet. I showed her once years ago and she made a small, simple afghan for her first born (he is 19 now), but she says she has forgotten. I'm sure she'll pick it up again quickly. I am so lucky to have such a special DIL. I love her dearly.
Yesterday was the last day of deer hunting season, so our son and grandson were both out all day! Not sure if they were successful.
I hope none of our OH friends were adversly affected by the tornadoes, mudslides, major snowstorms or other forces of Mother
Nature we have seen in the last few weeks!
Everyone have a fantabulous day!

Good morning and Happy New Year OFF friends!

I'm up early trying to get back into usual schedule.  I will go back to work on 1-5....hurrah.   My hand/wrist is doing great -- can barely see the scar on the palm of my hand, but a bit pink right at the wrist....he has me on anti-biotics for just a few days.  I'm so glad I did this -- just to be w/o the pain is worth it all.

It was 40 here yesterday morning and when I came out of church at 6:30 last evening it was 23 with strong west winds.....brrrr.  Old snow is gone but expect we'll get some new one of these days.

Time for some breakfast now.  Good thoughts and prayers for all and especially prayers that all of us stay as healthy as possible in 2011.

Thinking of you Bev -- God Bless and keep you in his loving arms always.

Hi my name is Doris and I live in Quebec Canada. I am waiting gor LapBand hopefully by March.  I am 72   I need to lose 78 lbs.  I see you had the band.  It seems here that the VSG is more popular and the RNY.  My Dr. decided that because of my age he would only do the LapBand. I did my research and have decided that it is best for me.  How are you doing with your band.   Doris QC.
