It's Sunday morning - What's gnu with ewe?
Doris, I LOVE my band. I got it 3 years ago when I was 59. I lost 100 pounds in about a year. Then slowly lost another 25 over the next year. In the beginning it took me 3 fills, and 3 months to get to my sweet spot. In 2009 I had my gall bladder removed and they found cancer in it. The doc said it had been growing for a year, was the cancer the reason I lost the last 25 pounds? I always wonder. Anyway, I went through 2 more surgeries, chemo and radiation. During the first of the surgeries I had to have an NG tube and they unfilled my band. That was the beginning of hell for me. Doc's said I would lose my appetite during treatment so eat what I wanted. I ate, I never lost my appetite. I gained and gained. I had to wait 6 mo after the end of the treatment to get a fill. I had many fills and unfills. I now have decent restriction but I'm not where I want to be. I am struggling to lose the 30 pounds I put on. I keep eating around the band. I am not sorry I got the band. It is a tool and I just have to begin using it correctly again. I have held the line at a 30 pound gain for 6 months. I feel that is a victory.
I have also had a new shoulder in that time and will be getting a new hip later this month. When all these joints are healed I'll be back in the gym and I know that will help.
Bottom line. If you follow the rules, you will lose. You can't do it without working at it. You can't do it without 'moving'. If you do those two things, it's a no brainer. The pounds will come off.
Good luck Doris

Good Morning Everyone,
Cold, crisp in the low teens here early this morning. Sending the rest of the leftovers home with Nathan and getting ready to do the 5 day pouch test starting in the morning. I leave for California on Friday which will be the last day of the test. Hopefully I'll be able to stick with healthy eating with Jan through the weekend.
We have our son's wedding coming up in July and I'd sure like to knock off a few pounds. Also need to get back to the gym and a solid exercise routine. It's so dark and cold in the early morning but I need to go to the gym then. Instead I play aorund on the computer waiting for my subbing call which usually doesn't come before 7am. I could be at the gym and back home before then! Think I'll enjoy this last day of vacation doing a bit of reading, You all have a great day!

My son lent me his Kindle to see if I like it, and I do, but I seem to be able to only download books from Amazon. Guess it's because it's an Amazon porduct. I like it, but don't like having to pay $10 or so for each book, since I usually get my books from yard sales for 25 cents each....
Do you like the Nook? Are you able to get a good supply of books to download cheap, or free, from different sources?
Whatever I get, it has to be user friendly. My exploits as a techno-geek are famous. Or should I say infamous....
Thanks for your input.

Every Friday is at least one free book. I only go to Barnes and Noble to get my books, but I get plenty of them. Right now I still have about 60 books on my Nook that I have not read. The free books are definitely a variety, but it seems most of them are mysteries. Which is alright with me, because that is what I read. They give you the book free, hoping you like the book and want to read more by the same author. I did that with one author. But every book of his that I got was under $5.
It is very user friendly. They upgrade it at least once every 6 months. The last upgrade made the pages turn faster. And I can really see the difference, although I had no complaints about the way it was.
Just like the Kindle, the print is adjustable. Up to HUGE.
If you have any questions, feel free to PM me.
GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!
Happy new year to all since I missed that yesterday! We went up and moved my 96 yo stepdad in with my brother, Hes better off there but was hard breaking down my moms home!
I have the cast off my hand! I can almost type 2 handed now!!! Lots of stiffness will need some pt. My stupid insurance said since the attack was my fault they wont pay for PT. Right that I ask to be attacked and get shoved down. accckkkk to insurance company's sometimes!
Have a great day everyone.

I just get frustrated with the insurance company is all. Yes now that you mention it they are like casinos!!!
As far as it being my fault. I do volunteer marriage counseling for the local domestic assault center. one dude didn't like my advice obviously and followed me away from the agency building and attacked me in a store parking lot. only injury was the broken hand from being shoved down hard, Insurance says I shouldn't have been doing the volunteering, therefore its my fault.
What a great acting job by your insurance company!! I would not have been able to keep a straight face. I think I would push this over and over, if no more result that just to bug the heck out of them. What a crime! Almost as bad as the original one that got you hurt. At least the guy that injured you was angry, not that that excuses him. I sure don't mean that. But the insurance company, now that is just darn criminal in my opinion!
I had a friend injured when he was riding his bike. He wa**** by a car. All my friend wanted was for the other guy's insurance to cover his medical bills. They were willing to only pay $500.00 and his bills including physical therapy were over $3000.00.
My friend got ticked when they wouldn't pay his bills and contacted a lawyer. Needless to say it cost the insurance company much more that way. I believe close to $20,000.00!

I think that insurance is a racket. I have paid thousands of dollars in car and household insurance, and I think that I have had one claim for my car several years ago and the damage was minimal - under $500.00, yet my premiums went up and up. And I bet that if I had a claim, I would be disappointed with the money that the insurance company would pay me for it.
I hate insurance companies!
I'm with Karen - bug them, at least.
just found out Thurs about the insurance thing not paying. Steve wants me to contact a lawyer so we might. I am thinking of contacting the agency also to see if they might help some. Their insurance couldn't pay since I was injured off premises but they did offer to do anything they could. Steve is also going to have a chat with his HR rep at the shop and see there. I honestly think If I have just a couple of PT sessions to learn the exercises I can easily do my own exercises here. I managed to manipulate a crochet hook last night very awkwardly of course but could do it. A needle for embroidery??? HA HA HA but I will get there.
It bugs me because of the principle of the thing. We pay the premiums are careful to not go doctoring unless it is really necessary and they still treat us like this. But I do have to thankful that we do have decent insurance.
