Ahoy 5 DPT passengers. How you doin'?
So? Who's up for a Zumba class on the Lido Deck after dinner? Stay busy....stay FOCUSED! This not a forever thing....just a few more days to go!
Susan
Matey Red here and accounted for.
I've got all my Jay Robb proteins at work. They are good but need some kick, I think. I'm taking the orange crystal lite to add for a little more flavor. I'm a bold kinda girl, yanno.
Honestly didn't see that yesterday was too much of a stretch for me. There are days I don't eat much anyway.
I hope the soup didn't sabotage me. I wasn't feeling well and it was WARM.
I'm off to $4. It's that half and half thing, isn't it? Won't give it up if it is.... damn.
Will report when the day has ended. Friend from out of town wants to go to dinner and drinks tonight. Hate it. Told her I was sick.

Good Morning Mates,
I survived to tell the tale. I'm up having my first shake and pills for the day. Late yesterday I started weaving a chair seat. I have an old wooden chair of my grandfathers. Just very plain ladderback style. We hauled it back from Arkansas a few years ago. Mike refinished it and it's been sitting seatless.
Yesterday was the day. Never have woven a chair seat but in Julia's words WTH! Went to Big Lots, the only place I could find jute cording of the right size and started in. About 4 hours later, a bit of cursing, and several forays on line for pictures and instructions, Grandpa's chair now has a seat! And it kept be busy when I would have loved to be chewing.
If I work today I'll take my shake premixed and also a broth mix. Warming up (it is 16 this morning) Jan say's just supposed to be around 60 in southern California. Hey, that sounds like a heat wave to me!
Hope you all are hanging in there. Day two. Wish I could say I was headed to the Zumba area, but I'm thinking more of a lounge on the deck in the warm sunshine with a
Bloody Mary. Minus the celery of course as I'm on day two of my liquid program!

We are at 23 degrees this am which is better than 2. Having a cold protein drink is not fun to me, so I have on long underwear hoping to keep the cold a bit more at bay. I will have coffee after the shake. I feel a bit shaky right now but as soon as the protein kicks in I will feel better
and now....
and now....
drum roll please!
Got on the scale this morning and down 3.5 lbs. Now I know that it is mostly water and another issue I had that is no more... :-) TMI, but hey! I am not arguing with that mean old scale. I know it won't continue this way but what a booster for me on this freezing cold morning when I AM HUNGRY!!!!!!
I am excited for tomorrow and some real food, well sorta real anyway.
Take care all, and I sure do appreciate you all,
Cheryl

Hello, fellow Warriors!
Well, last night about midnight, I broke down and ate a CARROT! Yup..one carrot...cold, crunchy and was psychologically satisfying. I'm hoping that a carrot won't throw me into the loop of insanity again.
This morning I am drinking my protein hot chocolate and headed out to meet a friend for "TEA"...two months ago, we booked this date for LUNCH...I changed it for "TEA". Get this..it is at a French Creperie... *wails*..but I CAN do this...pre-armed with my hot chocolate and a bottle of water in the car and I am ready to withstand the battle of wits with my head hunger. I CAN do this! My friend of over 30 years is a lap bander so she is also cognisant of eating mindfully...this should be interesting.
One fun thing, I get to try out my brand new Garmin GPS that Derek bought for me for Christmas...someting about me always borrowing his ...*coughs*.
Well, I'm off like a herd of turtles...

AND ALL OUR HERO'S
But, I won't give up. I think I'll stay on day 1 until I get it right.
One thing I'm learning as I get older is that even if you don't get something right, keep on trying - there is benefit even in the trying.
Side note: I've really seen this demonstrated at my Mom's Board & Care. The Exercise groups, the brain activities and the Music Therapists all include all the residents, some of whom seem almost comotose to me. (Mom's much more of a participant at this point) The therapists tell me that there is real benefit to trying to move as much as you can, thinking of questions/answers, listening to music, etc., etc., even if it appears to be pointless. I can see it in an ocassional smile & I can see the brain activity in their eyes - what a joy.
So, I'll take that lesson & try again today. Also, I'm getting on the eliptical & recumbant bike today - it coudn't hurt!!!!
Hugs to All,
Jan
