Good morning!

Here's day 4-------You're SO CLOSE!

Hope you're all doing really well, and trying your best!  I know you can!

Day 4: Firm Protein

Protein Recommendations: ground meat (beef, turkey, lamb) cooked dry and lightly seasoned, shellfish, scallops, lobster steamed and seasoned only with lemon, salmon or halibut steaks, grilled and lightly seasoned. By now you should be experiencing that familiar tightness that will reassure you that your pouch is working. Remember to drink plenty of water between meals. Take some time to meditate and rediscover the wonder of your pouch. Often we don't like that uncomfortable tightness of the pouch, which is why we gradually move toward slider foods that don't make us uncomfortable. It is always my preference to eat moist protein so I don't get uncomfortable, but this allows me to consume more than I should. Rediscovering the pouch with this 5-day plan reminds me of how the tool really works. I hope by now you are rediscovering your tool and enjoying the hope and excitement because your pouch still works.

A word about constipation: A shift to high protein diet often results in constipation. To relieve this you may try adding a fibrous fruit snack to your morning and a fibrous vegetable snack in the afternoon. Fruit suggestions are apples, berries, apricots, cantaloupe or oranges. For vegetables try leafy greens, zucchini, cucumbers, spinach, summer squash or string beans.

Good Morning Susan and fellow travelers,

Day 3 was so so for me. I do best when I have little or no choice like the first 2 days. Made a couple of not so good choices in the early evening but got back on track and did not graze during the night which is my old habit.

I decided instead of throwing out the 1/2 gallon bag of odds and ends of holiday crackers pretzels, chips etc I would throw them in my Magic Bullet and make "bread crumbs." Worked great. I now have a sealed bag to use for recipes that I make with a light breading. Our oven fried chicken is good this way. Should I freeze them?

Anyway, as they were going in the Bullet several found their way into my mouth! I was talking to myself as I was stuffing them in. . . . But the bad won out over the good. Looking forward to having a bit of fruits and veggies today.

Karen, so so is ok ok!  It's better than what you were doing, and you should be proud of yourself!

I'd freeze those breadcrumbs, what the heck.  You know if there's a teeny bit of moisture in there they'll go bad, so chill baby, chill!

Capt. Susan, The honey man just walked around the desk. He asked who's picture was on the note I was reading.

I told him it is Susan , The Capt. of this food fest. He laughed with me about the fest part.

I'm doing well today. The breakfast I had at 8 ish is still with me, didn't have lunch. Going to go get a bucket of water, the mug is a 32 oz'er.

Love that honey man!

As eco-unfriendly as my 20 oz bottles of water are, they are how I keep track of how much I've had to drink during the day. I take four of them to work with me, and don't allow myself a cup of coffee until another bottle bites the dust.

Whatever works, huh?

Good morning

This is going well for me.  I manage to stay on track yesterday.  I had scrambled eggs with low fast cheese for breakfast, Albacore tuna (single serving pouch) with a teensy bit of mayo for lunch and chicken breast that had been mistakenly shaved instead of sliced at the deli, for supper.  I had one protein drink and lots of crystal lite.

I had to do a lot of self talk around 10:00 pm because the kitchen was calling.  Today I will add ground meat to the mix.  I will also have a veggie or two.

I tried to do this once before and didn't get past the first day.  So glad I was able to do it this time.
