Sunday morning coming down. What's new with you?

I'm not STILL up at 1am Pacific time. I'm up again. Fell asleep as soon as I sat down to watch tv about 8pm. . . . Trying to watch "The Pickers" (Not nose, but salvage!) and woke up on and off for hours.

Now I'm playing on the computer and not a bit sleepy.  However, I really do need to try to get some shut-eye. Thought starting the thread would give me a chance to get caught up with everyone.

I missed a lot last week when I was in southern CA. . . .I know you feel sorry for me. It was so nice and WARM to me. Jan was cold the whole time except sitting in the sunshine visiting with Peg.

I came home to rain and couple of inches of snow the next day. Now just windy, rainy, cloudy, typical January in eastern Washington state. However, that little mid January break helped my winter blahs so much. We're halfway through my least favorite month of the year. The only good I find in January is that it means we're getting closer to spring.

I'll check back in a few hours.

Good Morning Karen and OFF!
I was on early yesterday morning but didn't want to be a hoggy and start the thread again so waited and never made my way back here!  I'm trying to stay away from the computer a bit more.  I tend to get onto Facebook or what ever and spend far too much time online.  Life is to be lived not read - unless of course that is all you can do!
Anyway, it's Sunday!  Why do weekends go so fast?  I went to the grocery stores (yes 2 of them) yesterday and spent way too much on groceries. but am trying to not buy as many meals at hospital.
New doctor suggested Mediteranian Diet to me, I bought some fish and last night fixed a yummy Tilapia with olive oil drizzled on it and a lemon basil rub I got at the smaller market that has excellent prices, meats and cheeses.
Got more snow yesterday and the plow guy gave me an extra parking space it appears!  He plowed the front yard too.  go figure.  Just moved a lot of doggy do to one side to be buried till spring!
Checked the propane tank yesterday too.  Something still seems rotten in Denmark to me. down to 40% already.  Hmmm.  Will be watching that closely for sure.  the heat does not seem to rise of fall, the ground floor remains comfortable, the upstairs units do not get warmed up, but the thermostat says it is near 70 up there, but no way.  the basement thermostat was set to 70 and it was 56 down there.  something just ain't right!
WEll need to get a move on I guess.  Probably going to a different church this am.  Need to get breaky and get ready for it.  Have a good day all!

Good morning, Karen and Debbie so far..

How can you speak of snow when we are on a sun-filled glorious cruise in the sun on the SSNeversink?..:)

Had a great day yesterday. Sat quietly at this great hotel eating EVERYTHING THAT SHOULD MAKE YOU DUMP!!

There were four courses, each with a different hot tea.  All but one course had...........SUGAR.... and you didn't dare ask for any Splenda for the tea... so I only did one cube each.. but the desserts were wonderful, the candies were outstanding, and the little finger sandwiches were really good. The part that really made it nostalgic for me was I've that picture of my mother there before I was born(and I'm66), and the old Steinway piano is still there (she always talked about that Steinway) and I had them play Leiberstraum on it. That was what I always heard her play on the upright Steinway that we had.... and what I had played at her funeral. It was bitter sweet, but could imagine her asking the pianist to play that for her, too.

Due to the sugar intake, I came home, took a Lunesta and went to bed by 7:30.  The good thing is.... no getting up at 3 a.m. to EAT.

So, today is clean out the refrigerator day... laundry day.... and as soon as the sun peeks through and I can find some warm socks, I'm going to the shed for suitcase. It's packing day.

I'm trying really, really hard to stay out of Macy's today... darned sales!!

I recently discoverd that you paint and I thought I was going to have to scold you for not sharing another talent until I discovered that I had not read the word "had" in the sentence you wrote about playing Leiberstraum for your mother's funeral.  Oh well you have so many talents my mistake was understandable.  That's a polilte way of saying my brain is not working so good.  I seem to misread a lot  of things.  Most are much more interesting my way than the intended way.

Good Morning Karen, Debbie, Janet and those to come. . .

Karen I often envy your ability to travel around as often as you seem to do, but I guess that is the joy of having a career where one can retire and have a little bit of security, not to mention that you work parttime, I so wished I could have joined you to visit with Jan and Peg and to meet Kathkins. . . oh well, who knows what the future holds, hoping for a windfall somewhere along the line. . .

Debbie, I shop the circulars at three different grocey stores and buy my produce from a discount produce place, visiting them depending on where I am on a given day, they are all within 5 miles of my home, one, along with the produce place is where I get off the highway on my way home from work, the other near my gym and the last one, near to a 2nd way I sometimes take home from work, so I shop according to what I need and they have on sale. I also relate to the sometimes getting on the computer and overstaying, though I have broken the habit of late, because I'm just too darned busy, having added the gym back in my schedule, but I do enjoy getting lost in bejeweled. . .

Janet your description of high tea was so nice, the nostalgia you shared made me think of being a kid and my great Aunt Connie taking me and my cousin to different places, the one that came to mind was this place that had coin-op food, Horn n Hardit and we'd go and my aunt would give us some change and we could pick whatever we liked, a sandwich and pie/cake and wonderful hot chocolate, not quite High Tea, but it was something fun we did. . .

As for my day yesterday, I spent it well and today my muscles hurt some from having worked them with weights and such. I had a fun time at one of my WLS friends house celebrating her and her sweetie's marriage, which they did in Las Vegas and had it via a webcast on Thanksgiving, so last night they had a gathering for a rebroadcast of the event for those unable to see it the first time and we had a really fun time, laughing, eating and celebrating the couple, who met online over 5 years ago, he is British with that wonderful accent and they compliment one another so nicely, great sense of humor and well it was funderful. . .

Today, I will be doing various things, laundry, vacuuming, etc., Tony will get here around 3 and we will watch the J E T S game. . . please football gods, be kind to our team and let them kick ass in NE today. . .

You all have a great day.

Wishing peace and strength to those facing difficulties. . . Laureen

Good Morning Karen, Janet, Debbie and Laureen and all to follow,

I was up early as usual, 4 am, and am spending a little time here and there then up back to bed for a bit then up again to head off to church. Tom is in the choir and they usually sing at the late service. My preference is early service so I have the rest of the day but he loves singing in the choir soooo late it is.
Will go by and see the parents and bring mom her pillow. She is still not always on track cognitively but this is not new. It's sad to see them, so young still, in the condition they are in now. Hopefully, they will stay and get as strong as possible before heading back home. And at least now, maybe, fingers crossed, they can see that my sister and I can and will help them and to trust us a bit more. Who knows?

Plans are to do laundry and continue to sit on my buttocks. My very bad habit is to watch TV shows/movies on my laptop. Another reason I have neglected my scrapbooking for so long...

Janet, High Tea sounded wonderful and your description of your mom was lovely.

Debbie, I hate hate being cold and Hate furnace problems as much as car problems.

Nancy, reading about all you do makes me very envious.

Laureen, I need some of your energy and "go get em" spirit.

So with Laureen's energy and if I could just get a smidge of Nancy's fire to be in action, I'd have it made. Then with just a touch of Janet and Karen's adventurous nature I'd be all set!!!!

It is wet and rainy here, Yucky. I prefer snow in January.

Like you Karen I am seeing Spring around the corner. I always say to Tom about this time "summer's almost here!" as soon as Christmas is over.

Well enough of my blathering,
Cheryl

Cheryl,

Isn't that what this board is about? To lend support and to inspire another to step one foot beyond their comfort level to find a new adventure?

Yes, Janet, you are SO right! I can always count on having my spirit lifted or for some inspiration when I come here, even more so when I participate.

The basketball game was exciting. 12 year old girls play to WIN!! They play rough too.

I ran errands and about froze my fingers off. Somebody should invent a heated steering wheel.

Annette, I'm with you and the frozen finger tips. We bought a cushioned steering wheel cover a few years ago, it seems to help a bit,  if you have gloves on not to much cold can sink into the tiny digit's.

If I could, you would receive, wonderfully warm weather , Peg
