Just thought I'd say hi. Had surgery Jan. 10th and I'm gonna turn 60 (YIKES) on Jan. 31st. Talk about turning over a new leaf...lol. Wondered where all the 50 and over ppl were hiding.

What a wonderful birthday present to yourself. You've landed in a good spot. Stick around, get to know us and let us get to know you.

So you're just one week post surgery. How are you feeling? I had LAP RNY Feb 16, 2005 almost SIX years ago. Hard to believe, but one of the very best decisions I have ever made. I hope you feel that way too. Take care, it's kind of overwhelming at first, but you'll soon be a pro! Do  you have a first name that we can call  you by? Just me perhaps but I really like to know people's first name at least. I understand not wanting to plaster all of you info on line if you would rather not.

My name is Pat and I had the Lap band. I went with that because of the quicker recovery etc. I live alone and didn't want to be laid up too long. This was my first major surgery and I was really nervous but all went well. I was only in the hospital overnight. I will be on this liquid diet I started Dec.28th until Jan.26. Yummy...lol. I must be getting better I'm starting to fantasize about being able to eat a scrambled egg. I never imagined an egg could be so darn appealing. I'm glad I did this and would have done it ages ago if my insurance would have covered it then. Hope to get to know you all better.

Welcome Pat, My name is Peg. This site is the best I found. The people you find here are all of a more mature age and have some really good answers for new-be's.

I had my WLS IN '06'. In my lifetime this surgery was right up there with  finding my honey man and the birth of our children. The things I'm able to do surprise me. I t may be a bit rough to start , but as the years go by, I'm hoping you find the things that work best for you.

Hi Pat - welcome to the board.  I'm here every day reading, but I don't often have the time to post  -  I am going to try harder.
I am a month older than you and turned 60 in December.  i think that this birthday bothered me more than all of the others, but I've gotten used to it already; it isn't so bad.
I live in Ontario, Canada, but I have lots of relatives in the States, including in Cleveland and Huron Ohio.
You'll find many wonderful people on this board.  Come back again.

You guys are sooooooo nice and friendly. I've been going to the lap band forum for awhile now. While there are some nice ppl on there there are also some not so nice ppl. There are a few ppl who the lap band didn't work well for and they feel the need to bash anyone who gets a band. It was a little upsetting. I was looking for advice and support not to be treated as if I were too stupid to know what I was doing. I did a lot of research before making my choice and I don't think WLS is one size fits all. If we aren't willing to do the work none of the surgeries is going to help. Whatever someone chooses and whatever works is all good. It's all about being healthier isn't it? I don't think there is a wrong choice since doing anything is alot better than just doing nothing. I think I will feel so much more comfortabl here Thanks for making me feel welcome.
