Tuesday Morning! What's New?
Hello WLS Sistas;
It was really cold uphere in Canada -35 C BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR Today it is better -10.
I have a bad head cold. My housekeeper comes every 2nd. Tuesday and I like to be out then. I dragged myself around Wallmart and Zellers and then we came home I was done in. DH does the driving and I do the running. I have him so well trained lol.
My surgery is 1 month away and I am starting to feel that I need a buddy for support. Someone who has had the same surgery as I am getting. I have been sort of left in Limbo. (Gastric Plication)
I know someone did answer me but I forget who it was. Sending out feelers. Doris QC.

I am not familiar with your surgery but I would imagine that the after care at least as far as support goes is similar to ours. Some of us have been banded and some have had gastric bypass. Either way we must learn to use this as a tool and realize that it is not a magic pill that will take away all our cravings. It will feel like it is a magic pill that first year. Then reality sets in.
That is when you really need us. Hopefully your doc has a support group or at least professionals who will give you guidance as far as stages of foods to reintroduce and when they start and also information on the vitamins and supplements you need to take. If not there are several folks here that can lead you in the right direction. If your surgery is one that causes mal-absorption it is critical that you take the necessary vitamins and have the right labs done to keep track of your levels.
That first year is a learning experience and a whirlwind of WOWS, big one and little ones. Most of us were able to get rid of medications for things like high blood pressure or diabetes. Those are big wows. The little wows are things like being able to cross our legs or fit between our grocery baskets and the checkout counter.
Everyone here is supportive and will rejoice with you when you have those WOWS and also answer any questions you have if we are able. Most of all we will cheer you on as you make this journey
Hang on to you hat it will be a wild and wonderful ride.

Linda;
Thank-you so much for your words of encouragement. This is a new proceedure Less invasive and easier after. I have my family Dr. as well as the Dr. in Ottawa who will do my followup. I am going to call Montreal and see why they have not sent me any info. I need to know if I am doing pre-op, The nurse gave me instructions on the phone about the day of surgery. I am getting nervous , I need to prepare my food for at home. From here to Montreal is 4 hr. drive. We will go down on Sunday, surgery is Monday (day surgery) we will stay in montreal for 2 extra days. Now my follow up in Ottawa is 2 hrs. but we have family and that is ok. My family Dr. will see me anytime. He is very dedicated. Thank-you again Linda. So nice to get some feedback. Doris QC.

Hi Debbie G. and all my OFF friends,
Wow Deb, that is cold. We went down to single digits yesterday night but we are in the mid 20s now. What we are getting is more snow. Last night we had 3" and tomorrow night we are supposed to get 10" more. We still have 3 1/2 feet on the ground from past storms. Everyone is sure getting their use out of their snowblowers.
I felt really good today. I had a week off from chemo last Friday. I even moved some furniture around and cleaned a little. I love those "moving man" pads. I hope to get pretty far with my rearranging around and done before chemo on Friday. Then I can clean up and file all the "stuff" in our office. With the snow, there is no reason to leave the house.
My Mom will take me to chemo this week. This is the first one of the cycle so it takes more than 4 hours of IVs to get it all in me. She was really disappointed a few weeks ago when we told her that we didn't want her to come out and take me because of snow. So this will make her happy that she can take me. The snow should be cleaned up by Friday.
I also got some thank you notes sent out to those who have done so much for me.
Hugs to all. Thinking of those of you facing challenges.
Bev
