Thanks for your take on things Laureen... I wish we could go back to our forefathers in Philadelphia and state our case... our government has not kept the faith in my opinion. Lobbies are not in our best interest. Our politicians need too much money to be elected... I could go on but I won't.

Well I made it into work today -- even with an additional 4 inches of snow.  I am very lucky that the bank has a parking place for me within a short distance from the back door.

Good wishes on your move, Connie -- I just know everything is going to work out for you.

To everyone, a day of peace and tranquility.

Pat R.

Hi Julia and my OFF family:

I'm off today and just vegging ... well, mostly. I'm doing laundry, which doesn't take much effort. I'm waiting around for the cable guy to fix my DVR box with its crappy color. I tried to follow the directions given me and fix it myself and that made it turn all yellow. So now he's supposed to be here between 11 and 2 ... good time to do laundry.

It cooled off ... 62 degrees. But still a pleasant day. No big plans today.

Julia, I didn't think you were complaining, either ... just voicing your concerns. I have often said the same things, but basically I have worked for companies that either didn't have pensions or I wasn't there long enough to get pensions. And now very few places have fixed pensions anymore. It's the way of the world. And I didn't save very well.

Well, not much else from me. I need to get the wash into the dryer and put in another load. Have a good day.

I know that pensions will go away if this keeps up- but teachers do not get social security... and most of our pension is from OUR own money.  The state adds in some, but it can't be that different from contributions that states make to social security. If they take away the pensions for teachers they will be hard pressed to get anyone into those jobs...you need an MA for the most part AND it's a really tough job! Children are not as well-behaved as they used to be.

Hello everyone here at OFF.  Yes, I am truely blessed today.  Not only do I now have phone service again but also high speed internet and it's just $20/month for the first year.  We had to ditch the satellite tv too due to severe cut backs we had to make when I had to quit working.  Things are starting to look better now.  We are readjusting now that I at least get the disability check now.  That helps a lot.  It will be a bit before we get caught up but we'll make it I hope, lol.  I have been making some new panels for the french doors and a curtain for the window in the living room.  All that's left is to hem the door panels and I'll be done.  I have been trying to start a baby blanket for our upcoming grandson but I need a stitch counter.  It is really hard for me to concentrate with any distractions now.  I will head to Ft. Smith tomorrow to see if I can find one at the fabric shop.  The two closest Wal Mart's didn't have any.  I'm really glad the cold weather has let up some.  When it was really cold, we had 8 dogs and two cats in the house.  It was horrible.  Dog and cat hair everywhere.  I had to vaccuum a couple times a day.  Not to mention all the mopping and cleaning up behind them every time we had to push them out the door to use the bathroom, lol.  Well prayers to those in need of them and hugs to everyone.  I have missed ya'll.
