My name is Barb and I just found this particular board.

Surgery is Tuesday.  Getting anxious, scared, excited, 2nd throughts, etc.  But from what I've been told, I'm normal.

I am thanking you in advance for the many questions (I'm sure they will redundant) I may have.  I do use the search, but....

Hi Barb,
Your feelings are totally normal, and you will be fine.  Remember to breath and walk when you get home, OH, and sip your water.  That is what I was advised and I lived by those words.  You can start doing deep breathing exercises now, to get ready for post-op.  It helped me tremendously when I had mine.

We are here for you when you have questions.  Are you having RNY, or something else?

I will pray for you this week.

Hugs,
Trish

Hello Barb, and welcome!  I was where you are at just 3 short months ago.  Yes, it's scary and exciting all at the same time.  The best advice for right after surgery is to take your time as you start to sip liquids.  They will bring you more on your tray than you can eat.  Don't be in a big hurry to try and eat again.  You will likely be on an IV, so just take your time and let your tummy start to heal.

Once you get home, then you need to sip, sip, sip and walk, walk, walk.  My good pal Judy here on OFF told me that and she was so right!  I just walked/shuffled up and down my driveway at first, but it sure did help!

What procedure are you having done?  Be sure and check back in with us as soon as you feel like it post-op.  Best of luck!

 Hi Barb,
I found this board about the same time you did.  Good luck on your Surgery Tuesday!!!!
Looks like we have found a wonderful board to post with.  I have surgery schedule for 6/24 so about 1 month after you.   I will really be after you for guidance!!!  Looks like we have some great guidance to listen on this.  Remember what they say, sip, breath, walk and we have it down.  GOOD LUCK to you

Hi Barb,

Welcome and yes, all that you are experiencing is normal for what you are about to undertake, but all in all I think you will be happy as time progresses and you are able to live life more fully as a result of losing weight.  It's definitely an emotional roller coaster ride for the early stages and sometimes through the course of the first year, but you have support right here and hopefully there is a group you can find locally to participate in.

This journey is made all the better because of the folks I've become acquainted with here, so looking forward to getting to know you.

Best wishes for a speedy and uncomplicated procedure and recovery process, do exactly as you are instructed and you will be surprised at the results.

Laureen
