What's new Wednesday?

Maggie,

I got my first Rottie in 1996, shortly after I got married, my exhusband was a dog lover and even though I had told him no, he came home with this cute little guy, who I immediately took to the vet and $250 later, he had his shots, some medicine for a form of a skin disease and within 48 hours, Max became the love of my life and wherever I went, he would follow. . .  long story short, I was forced to give him up 10 months later, I was broken hearted and cried for days, had found him a wonderful home, but it was sad without him, during that time before I gave him up, my ex had rescued three puppies, they were 2 weeks old, last remaining of a litter of 9, the previous were sick and died and he took them away from the person who had no business having them, the mother had no milk, as it was her 2nd litter in less than a year. . .  it was Thanksgiving weekend and I spent that entire weekend waking up every 2 hours to get fluids into those puppies per a shelter's advice, because they were very sick and the shelter had no room, the 3 survived, the sickest one was my Dillinger, I would sneak him into work in a back pack and keep him under my desk to care for him, did that for 2 weeks until he finally turned the corner, of course word got out and one of my co-workers would come to visit him every day and asked if when he was well she could take him for her husband as she knew he would love the dog, and I gave him to her when he was 3 months old on Valentine's day, by then I had found homes for the other 2 puppies and because I had Max and lived in the City, the idea of 2 big dogs living in an apartment was not something I thought fair, then 2 weeks later I was forced to give up Max. . .  11 months later the co-worker called to say that she was severely allergic had been hosptialized 6x and the dog had to go, but she could not find anyone to take him, I got her address and off we went, when I arrived, he came to me like where you been and came with me without looking back and so before we drove one mile, I knew he would not be going anywhere else, I had another Rottie to love and so I did for the next 11-1/2 years of his life.  We had a good life together and when he was gone  I could not walk through my front door and so less than a week later I was "just looking" and came accross a Rottweiler, talked it over with my boyfriend Tony who told me to go and see the dog, I went up to see a male Rottie, got there early and the woman who does rescue was just bringing Roxie up from the shelter, I took pictures for that woman to post, because she had forgotten her camera, I did not want a female dog and while I thought her a beauty, I was there to see Sirius, a male Rottie, he was too much dog for me should I have needed to handle him and so she stated that we would eventually find just the right dog for me and asked if perhaps I wanted to take another look at the dog that she just brought up, whose history they knew.  Roxie came from a home with 3 Rotties, all females, neighbors had tried to posion the dogs, one dog got very sick as a result and the people who also had 6 children, decided they could no longer afford to keep the 3 dogs and so she was put into the shelter system, it was the same day Dillinger was put to sleep.  I don't believe it was a coincidence and today, while I never believed it possible, I have that wonderful bond that exists between mankind and dog and I love her just as much as I did Dillinger and that is wonderful. . .and with the exception of my son, everyone that has met the Roxie girl, thinks she is a wonderful dog. . . I am blessed, oh and when I lived in NY I volunteered for Northeast Rottie Rescue doing home assessments. . .one day I will have my dog rescue farm ;)

Long story, but one that makes me smile when I recount it, hope it did you too!

My Mantra is that I do not determine my success by the number hanging in my closet, nor will I let the scale determine that success either. . .  It is through trial and error I will continue to grow and succeed. . .  Laureen

Morning Eileen and OFF family!!!!

WOW what a light show we had last night here!!!! Little bit of rain to go with it in my area. Possible more of it today they said. Hot and humid it is here and I do not do humid well at all!!!! I can take the heat but that humidity...no way!!!

Yesterday while at work I think I turned my knee wrong because it hurts like hell. Feels a little bit better today but then I haven't been walking around much yet. Tried ice packs and also heat and still hurts. Have laundry to do today but not sure I can climb the stairs to get to the laundry room. It is odd that they do not have washer and dryer on lower level so the handicap people can do their laundry!!!

Alot of job postings at my workplace but its for cross-training. Bakery, deli, cash office and dang if I can now remember the others. But I am thinking its because they are always short handed in these areas that they want us to cross-train. Not for me...I want to stay in my food court. Besides the pay doesn't increase with the new areas you work. Happy where I am at. Heard they want to cross-train me for a cashier...I do not want to even go there at all!!! With how my back is and hips...not a good move at all. Like I said...I am happy right where I am at.

Lots of interesting happenings going on at my complex. Kids doing drugs and getting caught! One day this tenant came home to find a group of kids in her hallway smoking pot. They wouldn't let her by to get into her apartment and the fight was on!!! Guess she went over to the office and complained about them...they came looking for her and again the fight was on!!! Police were called and not sure what happened after that. These are the same group of guys that were banned from the pool area and now this. Police need to get rid of them before someone gets hurt!!! I heard the big manager is coming today to see what she can do about them living here. From my understanding they are on section 8 so I think that violates their getting it? All I know is these guys are trouble makers and I do mean TROUBLE makers!!!

Well Bandit needs to go potty so off for the trial walk on this sore knee. Prayers and thoughts to all that need them!!!

HUGS

PS Welcome to the new people that I might have missed while not here because I have been working.

Hi Vickie!!! Yeah those kids think they are hot stuff but they are punks for sure!!! This woman that reported them is one hell of a lady for turning them in to manager here!!! Hope they are kicked out of here!! Was a really nice place til they got here...and its not this manager that let them in so she is doing her best to control this situation!!

Knee is feeling better today...had Bandit out for potty walk and I did ok...so I am now climbing the stairs to do laundry...and I got the machines today first!!! WOOOHOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL

Judy,
If you like heat with no humidity come stay with me this weekend. It's going to be 111 degrees. I plan on doing everything outside by about 9AM. The stores here open very early so people can get home before the worst of the heat hits.
My left knee is bad right now. So I'm limping right along with you. Ouch for both of us.   Hugs to you,   Mag

Good Morning Eileen and OFF,
I am having computer challenges that may keep me off the laptop most of today.  My power cord/charger for the laptop is acting up.

I am having a procedure next week, and need to find a ride, because I will need anasthesia.  I will make a plea on Facebook and see who is available.

I am not focused because of this problem with the power cord/charger issue.

My Munchkins were here yesterday.  Daughter bought cheesesteaks for lunch for us grown ups, and McDonalds for the Munchkins.  After we ate, we took Utley for a walk by the river.  Then, I gave my daughter the clothes I bought at the Salvation Army, and the pieces I made.  I have to move the snaps on Lincoln's coveralls because he is so long.

Today, I have phone calls and an appointment with the gastro doc, then tidying because the family, sisters and nephew and daugther and hubby and Munchkins are coming for pizza because Colleen, my daughter, can't get good pizza in the town she lives in.  I will have to order the pizzas and antipastoes early for pick up at a particular time so they are warm when my daughter gets here.

Hope everyone has a good day.  I put all the prayer requests in my prayer journal yesterday.

Hugs,
Trish

Trish,
I need to make a prayer journal. I write them down on a piece of parer each day. Do you just use a notebook?  So nice when family can visit. Our family is spread across the U.S. from east to west. We hardly ever get together as a group, but maybe that's a good thing. More one on one time.    Hugs    Mag

Hi Mag,
I use a journal that my daughter-in-law gave me.  I write my actual prayers in it, and I also put my prayer list in it.

My daughter and her hubby and my Munchkins all live in Michigan, 12 hours away.  My one son lives in Pittsburgh, 6 hours away.  My older son lives in Queens, NY, about an hour and a half, to three hours away, depending on traffic.

We manage to get all the kids home at Christmas every other year.  That's it.

Hugs,
Trish

Good rainy morning, everyone!

Yes, it's RAINING here!  Just a bit.  They say it will be gone by this afternoon.  Oh, my little deer are so happy.  So is my big Dear!  He's been worrying himself to pieces about our yard here.  It rained all during the night, too.  I know this because Lulu, the big chicken, tried to curl herself around my head on my pillow last night and then lick my ear!

We have such a terrible drought going on in Texas right now.  And wildfires everywhere.  There was a big one not far from our home in East Texas last week.  Nothing we could do about it from here, but thankfully they got it under control.  I assume my house is still standing!

Well, I didn't quite manage to finish my assignment of pulling up the old floor in the bathroom yesterday.  Why, you ask?  Because there are THREE floors in there!  No joke.  Two layers of vinyl flooring, glued one on top of the other; then a layer of plywood which was screwed down and I had to dig out the glue and unscrew the screws; then a layer of old linoleum tiles; then another layer of plywood; and finally the subfloor!!!  Rather incredible, huh?  The former owners of this house over the years have just all done the crappiest and easiest job of "remodeling" they could manage, not to mention using the cheapest materials they could find.  This is going to be a lovely home one day, but it's going to take DH and I a long, hard time to make it over to our standards!

Anyway, hubby promises that we should finish the destruction today and can start the construction tomorrow!  Hurray!

Been getting some rsvp's for Benny's party on Saturday.  Up to 27 confirmed guests, 6 of whom are children, so it should be a lot of fun!  I can't wait to celebrate his first birthday!  I asked Christie what she wanted us to give him for his birthday, and I figured she would pick something like backyard play toys, but instead she asked for weekly "workout" sessions at Gymboree.  So we're giving Benny a 3 month membership.  I get to go to the first one with them next week.  Can't wait to see how this works.  Christie was quite the little gymnast when she was a child.  Benny seems to take after her, always climbing on everything.

Can't wait to see our oldest daughter, Carrie, this weekend, too.  She'll be driving down from Waco on Saturday morning and be here in time for the party.  She is thriving in grad school and seems to be so happy at Baylor.  This is such a blessing to me!  She got so lost between the ages of 18 and 26.  I despaired of her ever turning her life around.  But here she is, a happy productive functioning adult well on her way to earning a Ph.D.  Unbelievable.

Wow, I seem to be rambling this morning.  Must be the rain.

Hubby is cooking our breakfast this morning.  I'm thinking about trying a piece of bacon today.  Last time I tried it, it didn't go down well.  But perhaps it's time to try it again.  Last night we were so tired we ordered a pizza.  I was very careful chewing and managed to eat one slice.  Last time I tried it, it made me sick.  Maybe my pouch is getting stronger now.  I don't have a scale here, so I don't know if I've broken my stall or not.  It's been a long one.  I feel like I'm managing my food well, but I guess I won't know for sure until I get home and can weigh on my scale again.

Do you think it's breaking some cosmic law to add BACON to a VEGGIE burger?  LOL!

Loving seeing everyone on FB this week.  This is so much fun!  You ladies have all added so much to my life.  LOVE YOU ALL!
